Gloria and I took our wine outside onto the balcony just off the living room and leaned against the railing overlooking the park across from the apartment.

"How are you liking New York?" she asked me.

I smiled, "I really like it so far. It's only been a few days that I've actually like, lived here, but I'm really liking it," I said then took a sip from my glass and watched as the sun started to set.

Gloria sighed deeply and turned so that she was facing me, so the side of her body was leaning against the railing, she sat her glass on the top of the railing and began fidgeting with the stem of it, "I'm really happy that you found my brother, Maggie," she started.

I repositioned myself so that we were facing each other, "So am I," I smiled.

She looked down at the ground, "My brother was lost there for a little bit, after him and Nancy decided to end things," she said looking back up at me, "I remember he called me the night they decided it was over for them, and it was only a week or so before Franny was born, so his whole ideal family life that he wanted so badly came crashing down around him, and honestly, I had never seen him so broken up about something.

"My brother is one of the funniest, laid back people in the galaxy, but he's also incredibly sensitive. He'll always say that's the Irish in him, but really he just cries a lot," she said with a wink, which made me giggle.

"I've noticed," I told her.

She giggled and nodded, "Typical Jimmy," she said quietly, "But...I don't think Jimmy thought he would get something like that again. Someone that really loved him for him. Not for a persona, not for a character or money or things like that. Someone that wanted just Jimmy. And Nancy wanted that, but, by the end she wasn't happy to be seen as Jimmy's wife and that was it. She wasn't content anymore and that's okay, but that left Jimmy out in the lurch and confused and scared.

"He was a 40 year old, suddenly divorced father of one with one on the way and he didn't know what was going to happen. They separated in December and tried to figure some stuff out and he was broken for a while. But then out of left field you showed up, and his face was bright again and he seemed like my brother again. He seemed like Jimmy.

"You guys went and hung out that night after you were on his show, and he called me at like one in the morning, and, don't get me wrong, he was loaded. Like wasted. And he went on and on about you, how funny and smart and beautiful you were. He was going on about you and that he liked you already and didn't want you go back to LA. I told him that whatever shit was meant to happen would happen.

"And obviously I was right," she said with a smug smile.

I smiled back at her nodding, "You really were."

"But...I just want you to know how much you really mean to him, and I know Jimmy, so I'm sure he tells you all the time how much you mean to him and everything. And I can tell, just by watching the two of you and seeing how fiercely you both protected each other when this bullshit story came out, I can tell and see how much he means to you too. And that means everything to the family.

"Jimmy and Nancy were great together, and they're wonderful co-parents to Winnie and Franny...but you two have this spark in your eyes when you see each other, this connection that I've never seen. And you can feel it in the room when the two of you are there, always sneaking looks at each other, little smiles, it means everything to us.

"So, what I'm trying to get at is thank-you for bringing Jimmy back to life," she said with such emotion in her voice, that my chest went tight for the second time that day.

"Jimmy's really changed my outlook on life, to be honest," I told her as she took a sip from her glass; she went wide eyed with surprise making me smile a little.

"Really, I had been in relationships before but my last one wasn't good at all. And I was alone for a little while after that to get my head on straight and figure out what I really wanted. And I realized that I didn't want a six month relationship, I wanted a long lasting forever relationship. I didn't go out to look for it, but all of a sudden there Jimmy was and it was perfect before it even started. And being with him has made me grow and learn things about myself, and I have different priorities now than before. He's made me realize its okay not to work all of the time, to take time for me and my family and that's already brought my family and me closer.

"He's just...opened my eyes to everything," I finished with a small shrug.

She grinned and pushed her hair behind her ear, "That sounds like my little brother."

"You have quite an amazing brother," I said taking a sip of the wine.

"He's okay," she replied with a playful smile, "We all already really like you, Maggie. Anyone that can make my brother smile like that is a perfect addition to the Fallon family mix."

"Well, thank-you," I said and bowed my head.

"Jimmy is clearly rubbing off on you," she said while she laughed.

I looked back at her and smile, "Little bit."

Gloria looked over at the window and smiled, "That's the Jimmy I grew up with," she motioning to inside the apartment.

I followed her eyes and looked through the floor to ceiling window and saw Jimmy talking to his parents, and being overly expressive with his hands and face, his parents were cracking up and loving every second of it. Jimmy was smiling so wide while he was talking, enjoying having his parents with him.

"Do you regret uprooting your life in LA to come here?" Gloria asked, curiously.

I didn't look back at her; I just kept my eyes trained on him. Jimmy. I watched as his eyes were shining while he laughed with his parents, with his hands clapped together in front of him.

"No."

A/N - gotta have that bonding between Maggie and Gloria :)
