Chapter 45

"Thank-you for dinner, JimJam," I said, leaning into him once we were in the elevator.

He wrapped his arm around my shoulders, "Anytime, it's not every day your girlfriend gets nominated for an Oscar."

I smiled and pushed my sunglasses so they were on the top of my head, "I fucking love hearing you say that, that's just...insane to me!"

He kissed my temple as the elevator came to a stop, "Well I'll say it as much as you want me to," he said with a laugh, "What else do you want to do tonight?"

I hummed and took my phone out of my pocket to check the time, 5:37pm. I didn't get back up until 11:30am after I went back to sleep after the nominations were announced. After answering e-mails, texts and phone calls we decided to go for an early dinner. Allie had called me to let me know that the Today Show wanted me on in the morning to talk about the nomination.

"I'm not sure," I mused, shoving my phone back into my pocket as Jimmy unlocked the door.

Jimmy walked into the dark apartment first with me right behind him, "Could you get the light, babe?" he asked.

I flicked up the switch to light up the dining and living room and was shocked to see a group of people standing in the room shouting 'Surprise!' at me. Then someone set off a confetti cannon which covered me and Jimmy in streamers and confetti.

I looked over at Jimmy through the falling pieces of confetti and streamers and struggled to find words as I watched him almost crying of laughter and clapping.

I looked back out to everyone and my mom and dad came over to me. I was literally too shocked to say anything, so I just hugged them and the tears overflowed from my eyes.

"Oh honey," mom said rubbing my back.

"When did you get here?" I asked pulling away from the two of them.

Dad smiled and motioned to Jimmy with his head, "Jimmy had us picked up from the airport this afternoon. He's been planning this for a little while now."

I laughed in surprise and looked over at Jimmy, who was smiling at me, while everyone had gathered closer to us, "How the hell did you manage to keep this a secret?"

He shrugged and put his hands in his pockets, "I have my ways."

Adam and Janie came over to me next, hugging me and congratulating me. Miles and Higgins were there, Jimmy's parents and Gloria were there too. Some of our friends were there, Allie, Paul, Justin, Jessica, Demi and Wilmer flew in from L.A to be there to surprise me.

"Congratulations, love," Wilmer said when I finished hugging him and Demi, who was absolutely beaming.

"Thank-you so much! Thank-you all for coming! I was really fucking surprised!" I said with a laugh to the crowd, who laughed in response.

Everyone split up into their little groups and I made my rounds with everyone. Miles and Higgins were killing it with impressions and jokes, and Jimmy joined in with them. Mine and Jimmy's parents were talking and having a great time in the living room. Allie and Paul were letting loose and seemed to be enjoying themselves. Demi and Justin were messing around with some of the guitars that I had out in the living room and were playing some music and singing along while the spouses and Adam and Janie watched.

Demi put down her guitar when I wandered over to them and hugged me, "I know I've told you a million times already, but I'm so fucking proud of you, love. This is all you've ever talked about."

"I know," I said as we broke apart, "It's just amazing to me. Like, I'm still in shock. I was sobbing this morning so hard, it was terrible."

She laughed, "I think everyone saw the video," she said with a wink.
