Chapter 32

"Why are you shaking?" Jimmy asked me when he hung his phone up that Saturday morning and stood up from the couch.

I followed him to the front door that he opened and leaned against, as he continued staring intently at me.

I gently tugged at a few loose strands from my messy bun, "Because I'm actually terrified right now."

He grinned and shook his head, "Why are you terrified? Because you're meeting my parents and sister for the first time? Are you worried they're going to hate you or something? I'm mean; you're meeting them for the first time!"

I smiled and shook my head, knowing Jimmy was trying to make me laugh, "Exactly that," I told him honestly.

His eyes softened, "Hey, they're gonna love you. Don't be scared," he said taking my hand in his.

I blew out a big puff of air and closed my eyes, "I just don't want them to think I'm replacing Nancy or trying to take over or anything."

The elevator dinged and I looked down the hall towards it, squeezing Jimmy's hand tightly.

"No one will think that, I promise," he whispered before people emerged from the elevator.

I stood up straighter and bit my lip as Jimmy led me into the hallway to meet everyone, "Hey guys!" Jimmy said happily, letting go of my hand and going to hug his mom.

I stood just a foot behind Jimmy and smiled at the exchange, "Gosh, I've missed you, ma," he told her before pulling back from the embrace between him and the shorter, brown hair woman.

"Geeze, Jim. Crying already," his sister chuckled from next to their mom. His sister was so similar to his mom; she was slender with thick brown hair like her mom.

Jimmy wiped at his eyes, and grinned, "Quiet, you," he said then pulled his sister into a hug which she happily returned.

"And you must be Maggie," his dad said, looking over at me with a warm, welcoming smile. He was older and balding with white hair.

"I am! It's so nice to meet you, Mr. Fallon," I said and outstretched my hand to shake his.

"Oh, please, call me James or Jimmy or Jim," he told me and then pulled me by my hand into him for a tight hug. I was surprised but hugged him back with a small laugh.

I smiled up at him when we broke apart, "I'm happy to meet the girl that has taken my sons heart away," he told me kindly.

My chest tightened with emotion as I smiled widely, "Thank-you," I said quietly, then looked to Jimmy who was smiling at us.

"Hey, dad," he said going to hug his father.

"I'm Gloria, Jimmy's sister, it's so nice to meet you!" his sister said hugging me just as her dad did. I returned the hug happily.

"He's told me so much about you," I told her when we pulled apart.

"Well, I'll get back at him with my own stories today," she said then nudged me with her shoulder causing me to laugh.

"Mags, this is my mom Gloria. Ma, this is Maggie," Jimmy said, introducing me finally to his mom.

Her grin was wider than the ones from his dad and sister, she grabbed me and pulled me into her knocking the air out of my lungs momentarily, I heard the others giggling to themselves.

"I'm so happy to finally meet you, Maggie! Please call me Gloria," she said quickly and then pulled me away from her and wrapped her arm around my shoulder, pulling me into her side, "Even prettier than you could have ever described."
