A scale

5 0 0

Put me on a scale
In comparison to you, or anyone, I pale
Isn't that right?
Or did you just do that to enjoy the sight?
To see how much better you are
How much farther you've come than me, by far
You do realize that by putting me on a scale, you, in fact, are not better than me at all?
You are, in fact smaller than tall

By putting me on a scale, you've decided that you're better than me
But, by doing that, you're actually degrading yourself, can't you see?
You're not the judge of who's better or who's worse
Neither am I, or any of us in the universe
We leave that up to God up above
He's, after all, the One Who made us

So, don't put me on a scale of any kind
Don't you dare me interrogate, or grind
I'm not better or worse than anybody here or there
I'm just me, someone who holds herself dear
Someone who doesn't want to be compared to anyone
Someone who's sure that being compared will not be fun

Don't judge, is the message I'm trying to give
Don't judge, and your life will be a life lived

When I think of a scale, I think of being compared to another
But I'd rather not be compared to anyone's sister or brother
