Pain of the past

The pain of the past
Doesn't go away so easily
The pain of the past lasts
Although, we don't really it see

I should know
Since I'm in pain from the past
But, I know I've grown
And I know things don't last

But I'm in pain from the past
I know I'll gain something from it
And I hope it doesn't last
Not even a bit

The cries of the past are still deep in my heart
I know that I should let them go
And I know they're tearing me apart
But how do I let them go? Do I even know?
