Nearly forty Years ago the world governments started joining together and forming the Untw; United Nations of the world. It's one large country that pushed peace and the development of technology, for good purposes. A world centered on goodwill, emotion, and humanity; having a good heart. Their rules and laws made the criminal rate hit zero. It's a country ruled with discipline, understanding and equality, even though some revere the laws with hatred and as being cruel. Yet religions stopped fighting each other, and people are more decent. All was perfect, until scientists in the western part of the world created an AI, which was originally supposed to create robots for mining materials. However... one of the scientists made a mistake in its code; or so they say. The AI started to think and learn for itself, like a mere infant, rather than a machine. The very scientist that created it had started teach it and eventually believed it to be a god, or rather made it a god. He gathered followers, a lot of followers, all supposedly following the lead of the AI. So oddly he named the machine Creation. So they soon became known as the creators; inventing robotic soldiers known as clockworks, robotic monsters varying in design, their only purpose to follow those that created it and kill those it doesn't; monsters that don't have emotion, or remorse; machines. We never knew what they were powered on, or how they worked, even today. The Creators entire army had quickly took over the entire Western Hemisphere, starting a long and bloody war that lasted a decade, called the Black gear war. The war only ended when the Untw invaded them in a last, desperate attack. Lead by the hero Leon. The last of the Untw's soldiers storming their machine like world, fortified yet still suitable for living. Actually, it was a perfect system for humans to live in. In fact, the Untw adopted it after the war. However, it cost the lives of many people, until we could finally storm Oblivion castle, where the AI was held up. It's main fortress.
Eventually, we won the war, at the loss of Leon's, many soldiers, and innocent people's lives, while the remainder of the creators disappeared into the shadows. The Untw allowed the entire area that was controlled by the creators to rejoin us without prejudice, in exchange for the technology they had developed, which they agreed to. But they only knew of the technology surrounding transportation, agriculture and terraforming, even some genetics, but that was banned (including cloning and the likes of configuring or creating living things). The Creators were the only ones that knew about everything else that they developed especially their weapons and machines. But it didn't matter, we accepted it gladly. The Untw created transportation systems to link every place in the world, including the few underwater cites that were made. Also, it resulted in the founding and creation of the Academy; a place where they train advanced soldiers in case anything like this ever happens again. (At least, that's what it says, according to our history text books.) The Academy teaches students about the field they want to be in, training them to become soldiers, alongside teaching them our academics, history, basic life skills, etc. Since it is the only school you could go to when or even if you are accepted into it. Considering they accept almost anyone. We are highly respected by the people in a society that values respect and honor, and are usually given good jobs & help once we graduate. Since we are only soldiers if we need be; like an extremely large garrison of troops. Of course, the students also learn their military drills, how to use weapons, machinery, etc.
They have you there for five years strait, training and classes year round (with the exception of holidays and weekends, just you can't ever actually leave campus), starting around the age of twelve or so. Me? I'm in my third year. All the students are required to live there in the dorms until you graduate, unless you would rather live there and work on campus after you graduate. Which I think I'm going to do, it's not like I have anywhere to return to....My best friends are Jace and Evan, both have their own talents as well. Jace is a regular brit (just without the accent.), being an engineer. Using a rifle most the time, when he's not working with his electronics or reading his books. He's talented with hacking, design, reconfiguring, unlocking codes, and fixing machines. He is a good person, although with a troubled past. He doesn't like to talk or even mention it though.
While Evan is from a Hispanic background, granted I don't know much about him, and a regular soldier that uses his brawn and guns. Although he doesn't have very large muscles, he's more of a slender shaped person with gentle blue eyes. He does, however, like to spend more time with Jace. He also uses his fully automatic rifle pretty efficiently. His idea of fighting though isn't very... safe either. But they are my best friends. Since I've been here, they've been like my only other family. Part of the only family I've ever really had. I am an orphan, living for a long time in an orphanage in the western district. My only and best friend being a girl I used to know, she was exactly my age. We grew up together in that place. In what used to be the United States, in a small town of what was New Mexico, I believe. Although it didn't matter, I found my way to the academy and joined the first chance I got, after the only person that was my family... had been forced to go away; after she was taken away from me. I don't know why she left, but I promised I'd find her. That was when I was 8, I think. I remember a soldier had visited us before she left though, I will never forget that man. He was a hero in my eyes, and that's why I wanted to join the academy. That day, I made a promise to her that I'd become a hero and save her someday. Though... the memory is fuzzy, I know that promise is real. Another promise I may never keep.... and I've been happy ever since. Which I regret all the time... remembering my days in that orphanage, and remembering my dear friend
