After Celina, finally, fell asleep, I walked out of the room. I quietly shut the door behind me sighed out of relief as soon as I heard the door close. I stepped away from the door and walked slowly along the catwalk. It seems quiet. Hardly anyone is seems to be outside their rooms. I looked down onto the first floor. A few students are clumped together, sitting around a table. Yet they don't look like they are talking much. The entire section is quiet, without any sound. It's eerie, and I don't like it.
I walked back towards my room.
As I walked, in the corner of my eyes, I noticed a glass door that leads to what seems like a terrace. I hadn't noticed it before. Was it even there before?
Carefully, I walked to the door. I'm starting to feel nervous. There is a twist in my stomach. Something is wrong with this door. I grabbed the silver handle and turned it slowly. Gently, I pushed the door open. The light from outside blinded me as I walked out. I adjusted my eyes as I walked further out onto the balcony. A light breeze blew past me.
There are a few plants being grown on the sides of the terrace. The railing is made of a white marble, and surrounded the little space. I walked up to the ledge, to see a magnificent view of the school grounds. It's beautiful...!
I looked to my left to see a few craters towards the side of the Academy. Those are probably from the battle a few days ago...
"Scars on a beautiful land..."
A voice, from someone I feel I knew, started to talk behind me, and ruined the moment completely. I turned around quickly to see a cloaked figure standing in the middle of the terrace.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" the man said, in a low, humble voice. I only watched him. His entire body is cloaked in darkness. I need to-no, I need help! He looks like he could easily overpower me if I did anything he didn't like... Who is he anyways, and where did he just pop out of? He must be one of the creators...
One of the ones that...
I told him more confidently then I felt,
"Someone is bound to see you if you try anything!"
The man merely laughed at my statement, like all of the other creators would. He spoke softly,
"Oh, don't worry. I am not going to hurt you. But..."
His laugh turned to nothing. With such seriousness in his voice he continued,
"It's just... I find it ironic that the two people who shouldn't exist met each other, intimately."
Even without him saying who he meant, I have a feeling it was aimed right at me. The way he spoke, so calm and strait, it's hard to believe he is lying. But I... I exists! Who the hell would be talking to him if I didn't?! Yet something, something deep down told wants to tell me what he said is true.
"T-that's not true!"
I hardly got the words out of my mouth. The man walked up to me and said,
"I'm glad though, you two met each other. It'll be, interesting, when you both learn the truth. Oh how much I smile upon my children's relationships."
He reached me in no time at all, as he grabbed a small piece of my hair. I feel too struck to move... why can't I move... I'm shaking too... and I feel terrified...
I don't exist? Why are those words scaring me so much... NO! He is just playing with my head! He has to be!
To defy his lies, I smacked his hand from my hair and screamed at him, "That's a lie! Me and Alex exist, just the same as every other human being!!!"
The hooded figure stepped backwards, to my amazement. I heard the door suddenly open behind him. Alex ran through the door with something in his hands. Alex...?!
Before Alex reached me, the hooded figure grabbed me around my neck and stood behind me. Alex stopped instantly, and dropped the thing he has in his hand; a pistol that bounced off the ground next to him. He gritted his teeth. I looked at him, and tried to wiggle free from the cloaked man's grip. I grabbed at the man's arms to pull them off, but its useless. I can't lose his grip.
Alex took only a step closer, before he stopped again. The man squeezed my neck tighter with his hands. I can barely breath... How could I be so helpless!
The man started to talk to Alex,
"Nice girlfriend you have."
It agitated him as he yelled back at the cloaked figure,
"Don't you dare touch her! I swear I will-"
The man cut off his sentence,
"Kill me?!"
Alex gritted his teeth together, taken back by the cloaked man's remark. His eyes are hiding how frantically scared he is.
Alex... I'm sorry...
I felt hot tears build up at the back of my eyes. I am almost ready to burst in tears at the sight of him so helpless because of me. How he can't save me...
The man pulled me closer to the railing.
"In the beginning, there were four heroes. Each held tightly onto their ideals. All with their own beliefs, families and hearts."
He paused for a moment, and waited for any comeback from me or Alex. But there wasn't, even if this isn't the best time for storytelling. The cloaked figure continued,
"However... each sought something different. After they all observed the world, how cold it had gotten. The rot and the filth it was covered in. All of them chose a path. One sought the world's destruction, and rebirth. One sought to fix the broken world. One wished only to save the current world and give it a chance. But the other..."
He stopped briefly and held me tighter around my neck. I can hardly concentrate on anything...
I grabbed at his arm again and tried to pull them off, in a desperate attempt to get free. Alex ran towards us, but came to a stop as the man just let me go. I stumbled forward into the arms of my savior as I gasped for air, not willing to move after how pathetic I was. My body exhausted.
The man finished his sentence,
"The other striving to re-create the world in his own image. Now just think what kind of hero you are! What do you believe? Because you are one of many, but that does not mean they will fight for the same thing!!! Change is coming!!!"
The man suddenly disappeared. I didn't see him go, but I know he did. I leaned into Alex's chest as the tears I held back let themselves out. He was lying! He had to be lying!!!
Alex held me tightly against him, and whispered,
"It's going to be alright. Don't worry."
He whimpered softly, but relieved,
"I'm sorry I got here late...!"
I calmed down a little, but stayed close to him. He is the only thing that makes me feel safe right now...
Both of us exist, or else we wouldn't be here... we have to!!!
