The driver talking really surprised me. Not because he said something for the first time, but because he is actually a she. It doesn't really make sense, she looks just, like a guy. The girl pointed out somewhere into the distance. The rest of us looked at her.... confused and..... unsuspecting. She doesn't even look like a girl at all to be honest. I don't think I am going to get over this.
A small group of snowflakes started to hit my face for an instant. I looked up toward the sky to see it lightened barely, from the glow of the sun, as dark clouds started to cover most of the sky.
Hundreds of small snowflakes fell down gently with the breeze soon enough as well. Another shiver ran down my spine. It's cold...
The lander hit something and jerked us forward with a loud thud.
The driver immediately told us,
"All of you! Get your supplies and get out. I need to go back to see if any more people can escape."
She bit her lip before she finished,
"If anyone's still alive. I'll be back."
All of us followed her orders. Willis grabbed his backpack, and a small bag of supplies, while the others grabbed the few weapons we have, and the few rations that we salvaged. I climbed out of the boat onto a beach with my sword, and a backpack of supplies.
I looked around our new surroundings. We landed right next to a rocky hill that is surrounded with sharp points. Except for a few spots that looked easy to climb up without getting cut to death. Everywhere else is beach, and a cliff surface in front of us that seems to stretch out a long ways to the right and left of the beach, except for the rocky hill which looks like the only way to climb up...
I stepped into the newly fallen snow on the ground and made a noise similer to when you step on styrofoam.
I helped Kairi off of the boat. As she stepped off, the driver yelled at us, "Now, would all of you be so kind as to push the lander back into the water?" with a snotty ring in her voice.
Willis and another person acknowledged her command and pushed the boat back into the water as she had ordered. As it got back into the water it sped off, back into the ocean. Guess were alone now...
I looked at Kairi as she smiled at me. Her eyes suddenly flinched and she started to cough.
Damn it! I knew this would happen... I need to get her out of the cold.
I walked up to Willis and asked him,
"Hey. Do we have matches?!"
The worry I had sort of cracked my voice a bit. Willis batted an eye at me, concerned himself most likely. He kneeled down to check the backpack he had and slid it off of his shoulders onto the snow. He unzipped it and searched through it until he found something, and handed me a little box that read "Matches" in a red lettering. Gratefully took the matches and smiled at him.
I ran back to Kairi who looked at me as if I didn't know what was happening. Kairi coughed a bit louder.
I started to work faster, as I cleared a little space in the snow. I looked around for anything that would burn.
Unfortunately, there only seems to be a few twigs, a piece of bark, and a couple of torn prices of cloth. From where, I don't know. I should just be glad they can burn...
I piled all of the items into a clump in the small space that I cleared. I slid open the box of matches and grabbed one. I flicked it against the side of the box until it caught on fire, picked up a piece of cloth and put the match to it until it caught.
