Sensei ran into the doorway, to see everyone on the floor. He looked around shocked, before he noticed me, and ran to my side.
"Hey, kid. You alright?!" he asked. I caught my breath before I replied. "I'm fine, but I'm more worried about my friends." I tried to slide out of the bed. I felt a sharp pain on my side and fumbled onto the floor. Sensei reacted quickly and caught me before I hit the ground. He slid his arm under mine and over my other shoulder. He forcefully helped me to stand up.
"Kid, you're in no condition to be fighting." He said almost ashamed. He started to lead me towards the door. I shoved away his arm and threw myself to where Kairi laid on the floor. I turned her over and checked her pulse with my hand. I waited for a few seconds.
*thadump*
I felt her pulse. She's still alive! I smiled relieved. Tears nearly fell from my eyes. Sensei rushed behind me and stopped at my shoulder. He kneeled down beside me and said "Look kid, we gotta get out of here! I will not ask twice!"
I won't just leave her...Kairi's eyes slowly started to open. Sensei held onto my shoulder. "Come on soldier!"
I ignored him. I hugged Kairi tightly in my arms as she finally came to. I'm so relieved she's alive.
"I'm glad you're okay. For a moment I thought you-"
Kairi threw her arms around me and held me tighter.
"I'm fine Alex, just a little lightheaded. But are you okay, did he do anything to you?!"
I'm not sure she wants me to answer that. I only held her in my arms. I'm just ready to start crying. I almost completely forgot about sensei. He quickly grew agitated.
"Do you not know what the hell's going on outside!? Come on, we have to get moving! That's an order!"
He looked at Kairi as I let her go.
"Girl, you can help him walk, right?"
"Yes sir!"
She slid her arm around my waist and told me "Put your arm around my shoulder, Okay?" I did what she asked and slid my arm around her neck. Slowly she helped me to stand up. Someone grunted and groaned from by the door. Jace stood up with his hand on his head, along with Evan. Both of them still held onto their weapons tight in their hands. Sensei stood up with a small smirk.
"Can you two still fight?"
Both Evan and Jace instantly stood in attention.
"Yes sir!"
Sensei looked pleased at their answer. He looked at me and said
"We've lost the case. And that was our fault. I'm ..." he paused with a grunt and continued "I'm sorry for what happened to you."
He walked to the doorway.
"Okay. You two escort them to the armory. It should be the most defended place right now. I'll go the other way to buy you some time. Do not let your comrades die, understand? That is your orders."
He waited until Jace and Evan nodded in agreement. He walked slightly out the doorway, just about to run off before he fidgeted.
"Just thank god that they haven't brought clockworks." He ran out of view. A confusing statement... but I think we all will just disregard it...
Jace and Evan walked out the door after him. They look like they have just got out of bed or rather a hurricane... they must have been hurt pretty bad...Me and Kairi followed them behind. She helped me stand and walk down the desolate hallway. The sounds of gunshots and explosions rattled on outside. Every explosion sent vibrations through the entire building. We all sped up our pace after a while in the awkward silence. Some of the lights flickered off, then on, then finally off. The hallway became dark... looks like a scene you would normally see in a horror movie. None of us said a word to each other. The silence seems to grow between us as we quicken our pace.
