After a while, Kairi and I got dressed in our new, bloodless, uniforms. We walked outside our room, to see everyone at their usual places. I wonder what time it is. I guess it doesn't matter... I feel tired though. I looked at Kairi with a smile. Her hair is ruffled. I leaned against the railing to look down at the second floor. I haven't seen my friends lately. Wonder where they are...? I hope they are ok...
"Hey, Alex!"
Who...
I looked to my side to see Celina and Willis walking towards us. Celina is Willis's partner, and she was in the hospital wing for a few days after that machine had almost eaten her. But she survived with minor injuries. So we've gotten to know her.
Celina looked at both me and Kairi observantly, and smiled with a slight grin. She leaned forward a little and looked at Kairi.
"Mind if I borrow Kairi for a bit?" she asked.
I looked at Kairi for her approval. She nodded at me, a little halfheartedly. I looked at Celina.
"Okay. Just bring her back in one piece."
I looked back at Kairi.
"See you in a bit. Don't worry."
I smiled at her as she smiled confidently back at me. Celina then grabbed onto Kairi's arm and walked off with her somewhere shortly afterwards. I looked at Willis who put a hand behind his head, to act as if he were laid back. But that's a misperception; he's actually been a workaholic recently. He is always checking on everyone and keeping order around the section. What's he doing now, actually? Shouldn't he be prepping for the... the war?
We awkwardly stared at each other for a few seconds before he spoke up.
"I'm not good with days off, okay. They let me have the rest of the day to do as I please since we're heading out tomorrow."
I thought about when he had talked to us earlier. I'd rather not, but... its been bugging me...
"Can I see this video you told me about?"
A small part of me hoped he didn't hear me. Willis's face became slightly grim, before he nodded his head at me. The sign that I had to follow him. Willis turned away as he sped-walked down the catwalk. I caught up to him as we walked. As I followed behind him I started to feel a pit in my stomach. I guess I am nervous about what it is, the case, since I almost died because of it. Neither I nor Willis said a word to each other. We passed a few other students, as we walked. But there aren't many. Most are probably still in their rooms.
We walked into a door near the entrance to the hallway that leads to the next section. On the outside it has a sign that reads,
"Officers Office".
Willis unlocked the door and pulled it open. I walked inside as Willis held open the door. I looked around the room as I entered. It looks like an ordinary small office. It's a bit dark though, with blinds covering the window. A desk is in the center of the room facing the wall, with only the black case, standing upright on it, next to a cup of pencils. I heard the door shut behind me with a thud. The room is hardly illuminated by the light from behind the blinds. I watched as Will walked toward his desk. He sat on top of it and patted the case with his hand. He sighed out loud before he said,
"I found it while I was running to catch up to the medical escort that was taking Celina when- after- the dog attacked."
I slid my hand behind my head to stretch my arm. I can feel my new camo jacket stretch a little. I'm not exactly surprised about how he found it. I'm more nervous about what is in the damn thing. The butterflies in my stomach started to get worse.
