Proud. That how I feel about Alex right now. He's in charge. I know he's going to get us through this. He is even talking about what our plan is as I sit here. Everything's going to be alright... I hope. But something won't stop bothering me. It's a small ache in my heart that won't go away. It's been two weeks already...... and I still haven't told him. Maybe that's it. It has to be. But with everything going on, it can wait. Right now I need to do everything I can to help Alex. Both of us have been through a lot together. It just seems like we have gotten closer since back at the Academy.
Someone surprised me from behind as they held onto my shoulder. I looked back to see Regi frowning down at her. His glasses are just about to fall of his nose, but made him look more intimidating. His eyes look serious and deep in thought as if he had just killed someone. He looked around us to make sure no one else is listening. "We need to talk."
I wonder what's wrong... but I... really don't want to go. I watched everyone around the table putting together some sort of plan, while I am just sitting her. Alex looks like he's busy right now... Fine. I better see what Regi wants.
I stood up from my chair and followed Regi into a small hallway that is connected at the end of the dining room. Regi made sure no one is in earshot of us, then turned to look at me.
"As a doctor, and especially as your teacher I forbid you from going into this operation. Whatever we do, you are staying here. Understand?"
Regi looks as serious as I have ever seen him. He was always a go lucky guy at the academy... but I have never heard him this serious before. I know what he means though.
I looked towards a mirror that hangs on the wall to see myself. It has crack across the middle of the glass, splitting the reflection in half, but I can still see herself clearly. It's not really noticeable...
I turned back to Regi. There is no way I am not going to help Alex. "I'm going. No matter what,"
I assured him Regi,
"I'll be fine..."
Regi grunted in agitation.
"Fine?! What do you mean, fine? You aren't thinking about you or"
I pleaded with him using my eyes not to say it out loud. Regi closed his eyes shook his head disapprovingly of me. I looked away, and said,
"Fine... I-I won't then. I just..."
I can't bring out any more words. I am still worthless, other than bringing about problems. What have I done at all...?
Regi sighed.
"Look, I'm sorry okay. It's still our secret. I'm just worried about you. Just take it easy, ok. I just hope you can tell Alex, before-never mind. Just stay here. You are in no condition to be fighting. In fact, you should be resting."
Regi walked off.
Why is he doing that? It's not fair... but he's right. That's what's bugging her. How am I supposed to feel, when I can't even help Alex. It's absolutely not fair. But how would he feel... when I still haven't told him yet. Damn it all.
"Kairi! Come over here for a second."
I looked towards the table to see Alex looking at me. I nodded my head, stretched out my arms and walked over to him.
Alex is standing over a map that some of the other students had made of the surrounding area. The castle, the town, everything is labeled on the map.
Alex smiled at me and said,
"I want you to stay here. Okay?"
Why?! Alex... don't you get it?
"I can't just stay behind! I need to do something!"
I found myself yelling at him again. Alex didn't take it hard, shook his head and said,
"You have done enough. People are risking their lives, I am risking my life, but I want you to stay behind. Without you, I would have never made it this far. You have followed me through a lot and you have helped me through my past. That's enough. Stay behind with the ones who are going to stay here."
Alex tried to put a serious tone into his voice. Instead he sounds more worried than anything. Alex...
I smiled back at him, leaned over and kissed him on his cheek. "Alright. I'll stay. If that's what you want, Alex."
•••••••••••••••••
Alex still has some work to do, so I can't stay talking to him. It bugged him though. I could tell by the way he looked. But, it's better to leave him to finish. I told him that he had better come home, and made him swear that he would, and he did. Now I know he's going to make it home.
I walked back to our room but stopped at the door. It still bugs me though. It really does. Something does at least. I don't know what it is... but it won't go away...
I slowly opened the door, which creaked as I pushed the door open and walked inside.
I shut the door behind me and turned back around to scan the room. It's just as we left it. Though, for some odd reason, it feels colder than it did before. I took a deep breath to calm myself. A white puff of mist came out of my mouth. It really is cold.
Shadows started swirling on the floor, near the foot of the bed. Out from the darkness, a hand popped out and pulled its body out from the dark. I want to scream, but I can't. I froze up. If I did scream, whatever it is could easily kill or overpower me.
The shadowy figure bulged and formed the shape of a human, as the black mass solidified. From behind its back, wings sprouted that spread themselves across the room, dropping a dark liquid that turned into feathers as they fell down. I know who it is... there's only one person it could be...
After its head formed, there is no doubt that I know it is him. Whatever his name is, it is the man. The fallen angel. My uncle.
He popped his neck as he stretched his shoulders. He smiled for a moment before he frowned and ran his hand along his wings. He clenched a feather and held it in his hands as he looked at me, and smirked angrily.
"You had better go, Kairi. I do know after all, that you are trying to stop me. Alex, you and the others I mean. While you are stuck, here, you intend to stop me."
Damn you.... damn you!
"Why are you here?!"
The man took a few steps towards me.
"Ah. Don't you want to see your family? I had to pass through darkness just to get to you. It's not exactly pleasant. Me. Your dear uncle? Hehehe."
"No! You are not my family!"
The man snarled as he looked at me.
"Fine. But you know it, don't you? If you don't go with Alex, he will die. You know it. You just don't want to accept it!"
The man yelled at me. Hopefully someone heard him.
"No, nobody can hear you, or me. This is strictly a family discussion."
My hope of rescue faded. I need to find my own way out of this.
"What do you want?"
I asked, trying to stall for time.
"I want you to know your lineage."
The man said as he looked down at the feather in his hand.
"Your mother had death in her veins, your father had darkness. And you don't think that you have the same? You know when people are going to die, just like your mother. It may be just a feeling. But you know, that if you don't go with Alex. He will die. You are an angel, but only half of one. You are neither fallen, or a complete angel. You can thank your father for that. But enough talk. I shall see you, my dear Kairi."
In an instant, the man vanished through in large mass of darkness. I standing by the door. I have to go with Alex. I have to....
