When I started to wake up, I slowly opened my eyes, and yawned, still tired. I stared at Kairi. I still have my arms wrapped around her. It makes me feel warm inside. Wow, that was cliché, but how else can I explain it. I get a flutter in my heart when I'm by her; she's the reason why I care so much about those close to me...

I whispered to her softly "Kairi, wake up. We have to wake up..." I watched her grumble in her sleep, "Just five more minutes..." rather cutely. She hugged me tighter like I was a teddy bear. It made me laugh a little to myself. I'm glad she hasn't changed at all; she never was the light sleeper. I sat up onto the bed, her arms still wrapped around my waist. I caressed her brown hair with my hand for a while.

Then I felt my chest with my hands, eventually. The dried blood on my jacket was still there, and so was the hole in the middle of my chest. I do feel a lot better, but, it still feels sore. A sensation of pain slashes me from time to time when I move. That knife must have been, extremely, sharp if it didn't kill me in one strike. Honestly, how many people do you know that lived after getting stabbed in the chest?

Kairi yawned as she started to wake up; she stretched her arms, before she noticed where she was and nearly jumped out of the bed, and fell onto the floor. She quickly stood up, and looked at me with flushed cheeks.

I started to laugh a little, and heard her start to laugh along with me. Until she stopped and was about to say something, but I noticed her hair fuzzed and sticking out in every direction. Some barely peaking above her eyes. She was beautiful, even when she just got up.

"You look cute, Kay."

Kairi smiled, and giggled at me. She combed down her hair with her hand and replied "It's been a long time since you've called me that."

Instantly, I remembered the day I gave her that nickname. We were only six then, I think. Both of us were playing by a shallow part of a river near the orphanage we grew up in, and she was picking some flowers. I was helping her, and had grabbed a few daisies from the ground. I had seen a beautiful white rose in the middle of a thorn patch that was near the bank. So I dropped all the flowers I had and went to get the rose instead. I remember I had tried my hardest to grab it for her, getting poked every time. Cutting myself and even scaring my hand. When she had seen me, she came up behind me. She had tapped on my shoulder, waiting for me to turn around. I remember I had looked at her as she said "You don't have to get it for me. These flowers are fine, kay?" I had frowned at her, still determined to grab it for her. But I stopped and said "Okay, Kay." calling her that every now and then, until it stuck. I don't remember if I ever got her that rose though...

I jumped back to reality when Kairi flicked me on the forehead while she said "Hello? Daydreaming are we?"

"No, just remembering the old days. That hurt you know?"

I slowly slid myself off the bed with my arms, until I was upright, and sat up at the edge of the bed. I pushed off the bed and stumbled onto the floor, nearly falling, but Kairi caught me before I hit the ground. She helped me stand strait up, my legs a little wobbly. I gained my sense of balance again, and walked a few feet towards the door. Kairi stayed next to me in case I needed help. I took a step forward and tripped over nothing. Kairi tried to stop me from hitting the ground, but she fell under me instead.

I landed on top of her, my hands on the sides of her shoulders. Her face so close to mine. I stared into her beautiful brown eyes. It was quiet, and I could hear my own breathing. I breathed in slowly, the heat of the moment growing. A feeling of endearing about us. We only stared at each other for what seemed like forever. Something I wish wouldn't end. Her eyes sparkled, and I could hear her heart beat, slowly getting faster. The pounding in my chest grew louder and louder. Almost as if she wanted to be coy. I leaned in closer to her, my heart beat faster, and I kissed her. Much to her surprise. Then she held me tight against her with her arms. Before I let go, and stared at her. Still in the heat of the moment. Our foreheads touched, and her cheeks were red. Kairi looked at me shyly and innocently naïve. She smiled while she said "A, the only reason I ever came here was..." Before she grabbed me and kissed me again, then again.
