I almost lost myself in thought. The cloaked bastard in front of me decided to say something.
"Does it still hurt, does it?!"
My hate towards him just grew. I can't take it anymore! He... he...!
"It won't hurt as much as when I beat the living f__k out of you!"
I burst out at him. Yet, he only looked at me. He smiled and slid the mask back over his mouth. His eyes glinted eerily in the light. I can feel a sense of death around him. For a moment, that scared me. But I can't let him stand in my way. I guess I've decided what I'm going to do. I will have Kairi escape, even if it kills me!
I looked at him in his eyes. Carefully I tried to see if he had anything on him. All I can see is his white apron and the mask... wait... He has a pistol strapped on his belt. If I could....
The man laughed in my face as he held onto the syringe so that he could easily squeeze it.
"Heheheh. You see, I've been ordered to sedate the prisoners- I mean- esteemed guests."
He took a quick glance at the point of his needle. He grinned and looked back at me.
"You know? You have quite he pretty girl with you. I can't wait to use her."
He is not going to touch her! Not over my dead body!
I tackled him head on. Using my shoulder I knocked him into the wall. He let out a small cry while he tried to push me off of him. I felt something sharp poke into my back. I didn't care much though. I hardly feel it!
I grabbed the gun from the back of his belt. It struggled to come loose though. So I pushed him off and reached behind my back. I could feel the syringe stuck in my shoulder. I grabbed it and pulled it out in a flinch of pain.
Swiftly, I swung it into his arm as he tried to block me. I pushed the liquid into his arm. I grabbed him by his apron; ripped off the gun from his belt and tossed him against the wall. Once he had hit the solid wall, I cocked the pistol back, so I could hear a bullet go into the chamber. I heard a click and I aimed it at him. I can't just let him go! He...he! Slowly, I pulled back the trigger.
"Stop it! Stop Alex! Don't-"
I turned around to see Kairi. She looked at me with terrified eyes and held her hands just above her chest. I looked in her eyes. I have to stop, I can't... its wrong. I pointed the gun towards the floor and started to walk towards her. Just so many feeling at once... I didn't realize what I was doing. I had the urge to kill him. There's no one way to explain how it feels. Revenge. It was right there in my grasp. All I had to do was pull the trigger. But I felt empty inside when I held the loaded gun at him... Even if I am a soldier... I don't want to kill someone... How come I feel like... like a monster...? I looked at the man as he smirked at me.
I turned around quickly to look away from him. I can't do it. I took only a step towards Kairi, as I heard the man start to laugh hysterically. He chuckled louder and louder to himself and stared past me and right at Kairi.
"Ah, so naive! When I find you... I will take that pretty little face of yours right off your skin! I will tear your heart out and throw it to the wolves!!! You dare think I-!"
The man stopped his sentence when I turned around. I looked at him and aimed the pistol at him again. I looked back behind me to see Kairi stare at me with... with such scared eyes. I turned back around at him. You bastard! That's it. Forgive me, Kairi.
I cocked the pistol again. With one hand, I aimed it between the eyes of the person who is right in front of me. I can't make myself look at Kairi. I only stare ahead.
"Look away Kairi."
I glimpsed at her to see if she did. But she only stood there and stared at me. I told her again,
"Look away Kairi!!"
She didn't. I can feel my heart aching as I look at her like this. I want it to go away!
"Look away Kairi!!! This is my sin, not yours! I promised I would protect you... please... please just... Look away!"
Kairi nodded her head as she turned the other way. I looked back at the man still slumped against the wall. He grinned at me and said,
"Shoot! Come on I'm right-"
I aimed the pistol and closed my eyes. Slowly I pulled the trigger. I'm sorry, Kairi...
