Delta was standing on one of the kitchen counters balancing a knife on her nose. The others were gathered around her and were cheering her on.

"Throw me three more knives", she instructed Omega.
Omega hurriedly ran over to one of the drawers labelled "knives" under the kitchen counters. He pulled it open and hurridely scrambled to collect three large knives. He tossed them across the room to Delta and she caught it one by one while balancing the knife on her nose.

"Watch this",she said.

The others watched intently as she began to juggle the knives, slowly at first. She then began to pick up the pace. Her hands became a blur. The others clapped and cheered.
Ace and Haze had joined them in the kitchen when they couldn't sleep any longer. Now the two boys were standing on a table adjacent to Delta, jumping up and down, holding a packet of crisps in one hand and shoes in another.

Delta had unknowingly moved to the very end of the table. They were all too engrossed in watching the knives that they had noticed a minute too late when Delta took another step and fell head first to the floor.

The knives were still in mid air when she moved swiftly off the floor. However, she had tripped and fallen on Taya. The young girl was still getting off the floor
She noticed the knives hurtling toward her and covered her head with her hands in a lame attempt to protect herself from Delta's deadly juggling props.

"Justus!",Omega yelled.
Justus ran forward and opened her mouth. She let out a loud, high pitched scream.

The knives were immediately deflected from their route. They were now firmly stuck to the wall a few inches above Taya's head.

Omega rushed over to help the shaking girl. He gave her his hand and pulled her up. He draped his arm over her shoulder and led her over to a nearby chair. Delta ran over to Taya and grabbed her by her shoulders. She looked terrified. Her eyes were wide and her eyebrows were furrowed.

She gave her a tight hug. "I am so sorry,I didn't know you were there",she spoke in to Taya's hair.

Taya gave her a tiny smile. Her heart was thumping rapidly and she felt ashamed when she'd realized that her first reaction to a set of knives hurtling her way was to cover herself with her hands. Dax had choked on his sandwich when all this was happening. He immediately ran over to Taya and patted her head.

"Woof",she muttered,rolling her eyes.

"That might have woken up Alpha",Sirena said, worriedly.

And as if on cue the elevator doors opened and Alpha stepped out. His eyes were red and his hair stuck out in all directions.
He looked at the wall behind Taya and sighed.
"Delta, do you think you can make this trip without murdering Taya",he asked Delta.

"Yeah",she mumbled in response.

"I'm going back to bed",he informed them.

And then he was gone.

Ace let out a snort.
"What's up his ass?"
"Pole probably",snickered Omega.

The atmosphere in the tiny kitchen changed back to a warm jovial mood. Taya was telling Justus and Sirena a story and Omega was giving Ace and Haze piggyback rides.

Delta put her dagger back in to its holster. She fumbled with the straps then tightened the holster. The weapon rested firmly on her thigh.

She walked across the room and sat in front of the large windows on the opposite walls. The best thing about these windows was that they could see everybody but nobody could see them.

They were moving slowly through the darkness. She could see dim lights twinkling from afar. These were usually stars or other space ships.

Dax walked quietly toward Delta and sat on the seat next to her.

"Hey",she smiled.

"Can I ask you something?",he asked quietly.

She furrowed her brows.

"Sure".

Dax inhaled a deep breath.
"Here goes nothing",he thought.
