They were blindfolded and led out of the prison.
The wind whipped up Delta's hair and plastered it to her sweaty forehead. Her wrists were itchy from the binds tied around them. She could hear the sound of waves crashing on the shoreline. The salty smell,bringing back memories she had otherwise buried in the dark corners of her mind.
Her foot slipped and she swore. The man leading her mumbled an apology and tightened his grip on her arm. They were going uphill. She could tell from the way the dirt moved from under her feet and the gradual shift in breathing patterns of the men around her.
"Phoenix has been watching you", someone wheezed.
"I can't imagine why",she replied.
She heard her brother snort behind her.
"I can imagine why,you're very beautiful, I heard he likes women with dark hair",somebody cheerfully replied.
"So instead of asking them nicely,he orders his henchmen to kidnap them?".
"She's got a point",Omega pointed out.
Delta felt her arms grow cold and her legs numb. She wanted to run, but she couldn't defy Alpha's orders. And she wouldn't know where she was going, she'd need Omega's help and he was enjoying himself too much. She drew in a long breath and tried to calm down. Being momentarily blind had causes her senses to go in to overdrive. She was bordering on paranoia and her brother was giggling like a little Methuslan teenager!
"When he landed on Isla Freedoma, Phoenix was a different man",someone croaked.
"How so?"
"Well he just seemed, I don't know,sad?"
"Phoenix, sad,I don't buy it"
"OK maybe not sad, but more mad"
This caught Omega's attention and he joined in, nudging who he hoped was his sister.
"Why was he mad"
"You'd be pretty mad too had you been stabbed by a crazy,pshyco woman"
Omega snickered and Delta rolled her eyes.
Suddenly the ground beneath her gave way and she heard a sloshing sound.
"Please tell me that's water?"
"Its water, we're close"
"Great"
Delta could now feel the hard volcanic rock beneath her feet. Her nose picked up a dense odor. It tickeled her nose and made her sneeze. She could hear the faint chanting of a dozen men coupled by the waves. She shifted her feet slightly, checking that the weapon was in its place, she smiled. Her bloodthirsty instincts ensured that she never went anywhere without her weapons. A lesson that Ace had still not grasped.
"So after he came back, Phoenix carried out a number of raids,making him the most feared pirate, he's got a bounty on him and everything",an old pirate informed them.
Delta hit her foot on a rock and almost fell over, the grip on her arm tightened again and steadied her.
"I'm gonna kill him",she grimaced.
Omega laughed lightheartedly.
"I just don't understand why he got rid of all the refrigerators",someone questioned.
Omega lost it at that point and the pirates struggled to keep him still.
They trudged forward until they came to an abrupt stop.
The chanting had stopped and even through her blindfold, Delta could still feel a dozen pair of eyes focused on her.
The pungent smell of alcohol hung in the air. Fire crackled in its torches.
"We got em,just like you said"
She felt a rush of air and heard a jingling.
"Bring em up",a low voice commanded.
She felt herself being hoisted up and carried to what she assumed was the centre of the ship. The person put her down and her back connected with something long, rough and cylindrical in shape.
"So he's tying me to the mast, I'm gonna bring it down and break this ship",she grinned.
She felt a pair of arms snake around her waist and tie a rope firmly around it. She was close enough to hear his breathing. Her body temperature hiked. Her fingers curled in to fists.
"Phoenix",she growled.
The blindfold was removed and her Hazel eyes connected themselves to a pair of amber ones.
His dark hair had grown, now it was wrapped up in an unruly bun. His stubble brushed against her cheek as he went in for a hug. He was not as muscular as her brothers but he wasn't skinny either. The large scar on his left arm was covered up with the sleeve of his navy, blue coat. His mouth moved in a mock smile, displaying a set of gleaming, white teeth.
"You came",he spoke.
"I didn't have a choice",she gritted her teeth.
He stared at her then crouched down.
"What are you doing?",she enquired.
He placed a finger inside her boot and retrieved the long,metal object,doing the same to the other boot.
"Checking for weapons,you have a bad habit",he winked at her.
