"ALPHA",the boy greeted him.
Alpha grinned at his friend and shook his hand.
"And the beautiful Beta",he smiled and took her hand,placing a gentle kiss on it.
"Louis",Beta smiled politely.
"Its left-foot Louis",he corrected her.
Alpha looked around and smiled fondly.
"Love what you've done with the place",he told him.
Louis snorted.
"The loot from the president really payed off".
Alpha thought back to the time he and Louis had raided the President's private ship,Louis had bought the Tavern with his half and Alpha had bought the property on Oberon and funded Ace and Haze's projects with the rest.
"Great times",Louis told him.
He gestured for them to sit at the wooden table that was located in the middle of the cabin. The room was illuminated with the glow of a dozen candles. Some had already melted. Beta picked at the candle wax with her finger nail as she impatiently bounced her feet under the table.
The girl who had brought them here placed some cups infront of them and poured a pink liquid in to each one of them. Alpha grinned when he saw this.
"Soda,I have a whole stash just for you",Louis informed him.
Alpha took a sip of the liquid and relaxed.
"Thankyou,Ellyana",Louis thanked the girl.
She gazed shyly at Alpha from under a thick curtain of lashes then nodded her head and gracefully walked out of the room.
"She likes you",Louis pointed out.
"What's not to like",Alpha joked.
Beta rolled her eyes at them.
"Boys",she muttered.
Louis lit a cigarette and looked at Alpha.
"I'm guessing you're here on official business?"
"How'd you know?"
"The Nashkans kind of give it away"
Alpha smiled at his freind and nodded.
"So you know what happened?",Alpha asked him.
Louis blew a cloud of smoke in to the air and nodded.
"Planet invaded,two-thousand dead".
Then his face grew serious. All traces of humor,gone. He leaned forward in his seat and put his hands on the table for support.
"Was it him,did he...do this?",Louis faltered.
The siblings nodded in unison.
"Alpha,why are you here",Louis asked him in a low voice.
Alpha cleared his throat. He knew he was going to get an earful from his friend.
"We're going after him.
Louis nearly sucked in his cigarette. He coughed as he choked on the smoke.
"You have a death wish?"
"No but..."
"Then why?",Louis slammed his fist on the table.
"Because he's hurting innocent people"
"And you're some sort of savior who thinks he can save these people?"
Alpha sighed.
"No,but he took away everything the kid had,his home..his family and there are million others like him",Alpha explained.
Louis smacked his forehead, the realization finally dawning on him. Of course Alpha would help this kid,he was a sucker for a good son story.
He attempted one last time to talk his friend out of this mess.
"Alpha you ran away from this guy because of what he did to you and now you're running back to him because of a bunch of people you don't even know?",Louis yelled.
"Its not just that Louis,he's been travelling planets,taking samples,he's creating an army,he's about to do something big,I know he is"
Louis crushed the cigarette under his boot.
"You can't do this alone,I don't care how good you are"
"I know,that's why I came here"
"What can I do?"
"I need information about Phoenix"
"I don't know much but word on the street is that the "Delta Nova",was sighted a few nights ago on Astoria bay,to the east of where you decided to split Riley's ship in half".
Louis' sense of humor was back. He grinned at his friend.
Alpha smiled.
"I guess we'll start there",Alpha said as he got up to leave.
"WAIT!",Louis commanded them.
They looked at each other and shrugged.
Louis limped over to a giant wooden chest next to his bed. Pulling it open he sifted through the various items until he found what he was looking for. Pulling it out he tossed it in Alpha's direction.
Alpha caught it and stared at it. It was a leather pouch and it was full of gold coins.
"I heard Riley cleaned you out",Louis grinned at them.
"My people are taking care of your ship so she should be ready when you are",Louis told him.
Alpha pulled his friend into a hug.
"Thankyou Louis",his voice cracked.
Louis hugged his friend back. Squeezing him.
"You better come back and bring your sister too",he winked cheekily.
