They were surrounded by hundreds of refugees. Their faces wore expressions of sadness and despair. Some had been lucky to escape with their families. Others had only been able to save themselves.

Dax looked at Taya. She offered him a small, reassuring smile, but her eyes told a different story. She was quite now. Her nose buried in a book. They were squeezed between the hundreds of Nashkans huddled on the floor of the ship's interior. The ship was made of some sort of black metal. "Sojourn", Taya had supplied. It sailed silently through space, weaving its way through purple dust cloud, navigating its way to Methusla. The planet at the centre of their galaxy. Home of the intergalactic space counsel. And Alpha.

They were all given a passbook with their name and an identification number.

Methusla was a stark comparison to Nashka. The sun burnt bright. A glowing orb in the middle of the sky. It burned their skin and made them itchy. Dax soon learnt the hard way, that if he stared at the bright sphere for too long, it hurt his eyes and left dark spots in his vision. The city was in the heart of the planet. And the railway systems were the veins that flowed throughout it, intertwining and connecting together. Buildings rose from the ground. Methuslans walked, bumping in to each other. They didn't seem to notice the refugees.

"Dax!", Taya called. She was standing in front of a chart, showing the network of railways that led in and out of the city.
"Give me your map", she reached for the yellow paper and held it up.
"We need to take this route", she pointed to a blue line that led out of the city." Its right on the outskirts of the city".

"We should get going" , she held his hand and marched toward the train station.

"Two tickets to crescent station, please", Taya smiled. The woman at the counter gave them a strange look, but said nothing.

They waited at the station. Dax was suddenly really nervous. What would he say to Alpha? The man who he had grown up listening about? The man who had been hunted down for years. But never caught. Taya had always held more of an interest in the other siblings. But Dax had always been fascinated by Alpha. All these questions kept running through the boy's mind. But one question kept repeating itself, would Alpha help them?

The train pulled in to the station. The doors were opened and galactic beings poured from them.

"Let's go", Taya winked at him.
