Chapter 38

((Rin's POV))

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I had to find Yukio and the others. Our friends lives were in danger, and honestly we didn't need anymore deaths today.

"YUKIO!!" I screamed.

Loud pants escaped my lips as I turned a corner. Right then and there I saw them. They were in a circle eating food.

That bastard! Eating food without me!

"YUKIO!" I yelled.

He looked at me and smiled, holding up his ration.

"Come on over here and join us!" He smiled.

"But we don't have time!" I said as I raced up towards them.
"Carter and Bon are seriously injured, and we need you and Sarah there. They need to be healed stat!"

"Rin, calm down. Right now we should focus on us eating first," Em said.

"What the hell?! NO! How can you say that Em!" I snapped at her.

"She's right Rin. We'll get to them soon. Right now we need to make sure that all of us are healthy. Maybe you should rest," Yukio insisted.

I backed away from them quickly. What has gotten into my brother and friends... It almost seems like they weren't... Themselves.

"You know what... I have to go..."

My wrists were then grabbed tightly by Sarah and Izumo. Their grip was starting to hurt.

"Ouch! Let go!" I growled.

"You aren't leaving," Shima growled at me.

They started to change, their looks morphing into something terrifying. I pulled away as hard as I could, but their grip was still too powerful. 5 demons stood in front of me, the image of my friends gone.

"LET GOO!!" I yelled. With one quick pull, I managed to get out of the grip of Sarah and Izumo.

"Get back here!" A demon growled.

I bolted down the street, the demons following closely behind. I glanced around to see that they were only ten steps behind me.
How far do I have to run?!

"The Cram School! I'll just go back and-"

"Rin!"

Ahead the real Shima stood, waving me on frantically inside an abandoned building.

"Come on Rin! Run faster! Hurry! You can do it!" He yelled.

My legs started to work more efficiently when I started to slow down, but I know I just couldn't do that. I trucked it all the way until I got inside the building. The sound of a door slamming was all I heard behind me, and the growls of angry demons outside of it.

"That was close," I panted.

"Agreed."

"Rin! You're okay? How's the other group?" Em asked.

"Not good. We found him at the Cram School. Carter and Bon got hurt badly, and Igor escaped again. Shiemi is trying her hardest in keeping them alive in the nurses office in the school. She sent me to come looking for you guys since Sarah and Yukio are doctors," I explained as I tried to catch air.

"I knew this would happen.. Someone was going to get hurt if we split up..." Yukio mumbled.

"We need to go and heal them! Carter can't die! We already lost Vicky! We can't loose him too!" Sarah yelled.

She started to head towards the locked door, but Izumo and Em held her back.

"Are you insane Sarah? You're going to get yourself killed if you go out there!" Izumo scolded.
