((Em's POV))

The tears just wouldn't stop pouring
down my face as I searched through the rubble.

I sniffled as I pulled out my destroyed stuff, and the kimono that my old man gave me was so ripped that it wasn't even wearable anymore. I found a picture frame with my old friends and I in it, but the glass was shattered.

That's when I decided that enough was enough.

"I'm not looking anymore," I sniffled as I threw the fabric down to the ground.

"Em I'm sure this was an accident," Shima said.

"An accident?" I screamed. "This was no accident! Someone or something completely destroyed everything! I'm sure my stuff wouldn't be in this condition is something didn't destroy it first!"

"I'm sure your old man is at least fine..." Rin managed.

I gave out an agitated sigh as I looked ahead. Trying not to cry was failing now.

"Sure, I guess he is. I mean he never leaves the place since he's so old but you know he could be," I said through gritted teeth.
"I'm not searching through this rubble to find his dead body.. I'm just not!"

I stormed off into the forest, not really wanting to talk to anyone at the moment.

                 •           •           •

I was sitting down on an old stone bench in the forest. My fingers found themselves tracing the cracks in the concrete, the cracks that have been there since I was little. The same cracks that held the memories of sitting here.

"Em?"

I glanced behind me to see Rin. He was frowning as he just stared at me.

"Can I sit?" He simply asked.

"Why?"

"Cause you seem like you need someone to talk to."

I didn't say anything or give him permission to sit next to me, but I found myself scooting over for him to join me.

Both of us didn't say anything for awhile, and both of us didn't even look at each other once for what seemed like forever. When I was going to stand and leave, he said,

"So the police are investigating. I'm sure you heard the sirens," he mumbled.

"And they found?" I asked.

He only sighed and looked at me. For a bit I didn't look at him, but his blue eyes looking at me intensely was a fight I lost. When I gave in to look at him he still was wearing that same frown on his face.

"I'm sorry... But-"

"I know," I frowned. "I know he's dead. That was my first thought when I saw the place destroyed."

"Aren't you sad?"

"Of course I am!" I exclaimed. "Who in their right mind wouldn't be?!"

"Sorry... You just don't seem like you are," he grumbled.

Both of us were both silent again as we sat there. I decided to stand up, and his eyes followed me.

"What up?" He asked. "Do you want to go back?"

"To answer your question from before, I am sad. I think any alive human would be. It's just that knowing my old man, it wouldn't have been much longer before he passed away. He was very old in the first place," I managed to smile a little when I said,
"He wouldn't want anyone sad."
