((Em's POV))
The hellhound dragged Izumo into the creek, her screams echoing around the area. Sarah was the first one to take action.
"Hold on Izumo!"
She took out her small hand gun, aimed at the demon, and fired. It just grazed the animal, making it turn around growling. My eyes widened as I got a good look at the hound. Wait, it didn't have fur! It's skin was just black! Stitches filled the animals body like it was just a small rag dog.
"It's a ghoul! Rin, protect me while I recite a passage."
"But it will go after you!"
"I don't care!"
Quickly I sat on the ground, my legs crossed. Closing my eyes, I started to recite the passage for what I thought the ghoul type was.
I heard the creature coming towards me. I held back the fear and continued. Gun shots from Sarah's gun echoed in the woods. My voice grew louder and louder with each word. The gun shots stopped after time, making me worry for Sarah. Did she get trampled?! With having my eyes closed I had no idea! No, I had to keep going. There was no stopping now.
The sound of Rin fighting filled my ears. I opened my eyes as I finished the passage. Although I didn't finish it right away. Blue flames surrounded Rin... The flames of Satan himself."EM FINISH THE PASSAGE!" He yelled.
His sword slashed at the ghoul, catching it on fire. I finished the last line, and the ghoul vanished.
We all caught our breath for a minute. I managed to choke out the words,
"How did it survive in daylight? Ghouls can't stand the light!"
"I don't know, but that was a close call," Rin said.
Sarah was down by the creek, making sure Izumo was okay. Apparently the ghoul got her leg really bad, making her not being able to walk. Sarah helped her up, and was a crutch for her.
Silence was everywhere between Rin and I. He then glanced at me a bit.
"You paused before, why? All you had to do was say one more line."
"Well I'm sorry I'm not perfect," I grumbled.
Sarah was now back with Izumo.
"We need to get back to the camp. There is no way we are waiting one more minute to leave," Sarah said seriously as she started to walk.
Izumo looked like she was struggling, but with Sarah's help she was doing better. Slowly we followed behind them, not saying a single word to each other.

When we got back to the camp, Izumo wasn't the only one injured. Shima had a few scratches, and Vicky's arm was just as bad as Izumo's leg. Carter and Bon were okay, but they still had at least one of the same ghoul scratches.
"What happened?" Yukio asked seriously.
"Some ghoul like creatures attacked us," Shima said.
Vicky and Izumo was already being taken care of by Sarah, since she was training to be a doctor. Yukio and Shiemi helped the people with scratches on their face.
The girl substitute walked up to me.
"What did the creature look like?"
"At first I thought it had fur, but it's skin was just black. It's body was covered in what looked like stitches. It was about the same size as a wolf, but had the eyes of a hellhound. It reeked of sulfur, making me lead to the conclusion that it was a ghoul we were dealing with."
She nodded.
"Thank you Emrel for the description. We will get into what attacked all of the students."
She left me alone after that, walking over to Yukio. Somehow I got the feeling that she... Shouldn't be trusted. Call me a bad guy all you want, but she just had that thing about her. I couldn't explain it at all.
"It's probably just me," I mumbled to myself.
Before I could walk away to make sure if Vicky was alright, I bumped into Rin.
"Look who I bumped into," Rin grumbled.
"Rin, look... I'm not afraid of you! Can we just cut all this out and be friends again?!"
I stared straight into his blue eyes, making my heart freeze. His look lightened up a bit. We both just stared at each other for a while before Rin looked away awkwardly.
"Yeah.... Sure.""Thank you."
I held out my hand to him, smiling a bit.
"Let's start over again okay?"
He slapped my hand away, making me surprised.
"No way am I starting new again, because you would be a completely different Em."
What he did next surprised me. He hugged me tightly. I felt my cheeks grow hot. I hugged him back as well. Both of us then pulled away awkwardly.
"So... I'm going to I check up on Vicky to see if she is okay."
"Alright, tell her I said hi I guess," he said awkwardly.
Quickly I made my way over to Vicky. She looked okay since she was sitting up with a bandage on her arm. She looked excited for some reason.
"Em, he's totally going to fall for you," she said with a weak smirk.
Of course, she had a perfect view of the whole thing, and in hearing distance too!
"Seriously?! Your injured and that's all you care about?!"
"Why does everyone think it's bad? Izumo's is worse..." Her voice trailed off.
Sarah was by her friend, looking worried as she treated her leg. Vicky and I both exchanged sad looks, hoping everything was going to be okay.
Yeah I know this was a smaller chapter, but it will get better over time! I hoped you all enjoyed it!
