Chapter 18

((Rin's POV))

Ten days seemed to pass by really quickly. The dance was tonight, and I was very nervous. Why wouldn't I be?! My girlfriend could be cheating on me, or stay with me. Tonight I was going to test it. Nothing could go wrong.
"You ready Rin?"
Yukio was at the door, ready to go. This was the thing I hated about this. Yukio got to go. Honestly I think teachers shouldn't be able to go, but he was our age so...
"Yeah."
I adjusted my blue tie. Yukio and I basically picked the same thing to wear, only he had a blue bow tie. We also both had a white shirt and black pants. We were twin stereotypes, and I hated it. Of course I had nothing else to wear though.
"Alright then, let go."

When we got there, it was already loud with music. Great, we were officially late. Shiemi and the others were probably already here. Again, being early is probably a girl thing.
We turned around the corner to find everyone we know there. Shiemi ran up to us.
"Yuki!!"
I froze. Why did she call to my brother first...?!
"Hello Shiemi."
She then turned to me.
"Hi Rin."
"Hey..."
Things were getting awkward between the three of us. Em walked up to us. She was in a black, short dress but not to short knowing her. She isn't that kind of person. She was wearing purple converse to go with it.
"Hey guys."
We all said hello back, but I was still worried about Shiemi. Her and Yukio were now striking a huge conversation. Em and I walked away from them. She must have saw me frowning.
"You still worried?" She asked.
"Why wouldn't I be? Damn Yukio...."
Suddenly Shiemi ran to my side. Luckily she was wearing pink flats with her short light green dress with a pink flower to the side of it.
"Rin! We should dance."
"O-Okay. I'll talk to you later Em."
"Alright."
I went with her to the middle of the dance floor, now lost in the crowd.

During the dance I saw Vicky and Em dancing crazy to the fast pace songs. Then with the slow ones Vicky danced with Shima. They actually were cute together, and I was glad Shima finally got a nice girl to be his girlfriend.
Now another slow song was on, and I really wanted to stop dancing. The two of us have been this whole time.
I just couldn't say I wanted a break because it made her happy.
"Rin we should dance to this one too-"
"Aurally I-"
Yukio then tapped Shimei's shoulder.
"Mind if I have this dance."
I was about to tell him hell no, but I needed a break.
"Yeah, I don't mind."
The two of them were already gone though, dancing. Looks like they weren't looking for my permission after all.

I found Emrel in the corner by the food. She had one her legs bent, her foot on the wall. She had a cup of punch. I guessed she would be here.
"Hey," she said smiling at me.
"Hey. Why are you standing here all alone?"
"Actually Bon just left a second ago. Why aren't you with Shiemi?"
"She's dancing with Yukio...."
She didn't say anything. We were the only ones not dancing. Even Izumo was awkwardly dancing with Bon! I coughed a bit awkwardly. Thank god the song ended. My luck though a new one started.

" What day is it
And in what month
This clock never seemed so alive"

"I LOVE THIS SONG!" Em squealed.
I held out my hand to her.
"Then may I have this dance?"
I saw her cheeks go red, but she nodded.
"Of course."
I pulled her to the dance floor, and held her hands.
"Rin, I don't know how to dance."
"Neither do I, but you know what..."
I put on hand on her waist and held her hand with the other.
"Let's make us failing a tradition."
She gave me a smile, and we started dancing.

And all of the people
And I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you"

This was a really good song. I might ask Em what the name of it is later.
We continued to dance on, sometimes stepping on each other's feet and laughing about it each time. I could see Yukio and Shiemi dancing too, but I didn't care.
This was the best time of the night I was having right now.

"There's something about you now.
And I can't quite figure it out.
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right..."

My eyes met her crazy green ones.
No, they didn't just show crazy... They were beautiful as well. She.. She was beautiful. Why didn't she have a boyfriend?! The song was right... I can't forgive out something about her, or about why my heart is beating so fast all of a sudden.

And all of the people
And I don't know why..."

I can't keep my eyes off of her... Just like the song says... She gave me a smile as the song ended. We pulled away from each other.
"Thank you for my first slow dance ever."
"Your welcome Em... Hey, what was that song called?"
"You and Me by Lifehouse.. Why?"
"It was a good song, that's all."
Yeah, You and me. That's exactly how I wanted it to be.
