tada! after a month long absence. happy june, folks.
Tiana’s POV:
“That’s it for the day. Remember to practice this routine, and we’ll rock this competition for sure!” Ms. Martinez clapped her hands, dismissing us all with a big smile on her face.
“So do you have any plans?” Andrea asked me, a sly smile playing on her lips. “Is your yummy boyfriend taking you out?”
I blushed, giving her a look. “Hey, stop drooling over my boyfriend.” Goodness, I said it without stuttering.
“Psh, he may be hot stuff, but he’s not my type, honey.” Andrea grinned, running a hand through her blond hair.
“Right, because you went for the laid-back badass types with names that began with a K and ended with an ‘ieran’,” I teased.
She growled playfully, reaching a hand to slap my shoulder.
“Hey, don’t abuse my girl,” a familiar voice said, sending chills down my spine.
Strong arms went around my waist, and I looked up to find Aidan’s green eyes staring down at me. He sent me a half smile, and I grinned goofily up at him.
“Aww, you guys are too cute,” Andrea said, shaking her head. “Excuse me, I have to go and cry about my non-existent love life.” Just as she turned away, her phone burst into a song about mutual attraction, and I smirked at her.
“Three guesses who that might be,” I quipped, hand finding Aidan’s.
“Shut up,” Andrea told me, though her face turned a bit pink. “See ya, you lovebirds.”
“Where are we going?” I asked as he led me to the car.
“Somewhere only we know,” he answered cryptically.
I shook my head at his mysterious air. I didn’t ask anymore, because he might be stubborn and infuriating with his silence, but he wouldn’t hurt me. I trusted him with everything, and he knew that. I couldn’t believe it, but I’d gladly put myself in his hands, because I knew he’d do anything and everything to keep me safe. Which made no sense because being around him was probably what was causing the danger. But I liked him too much to go away.
It’s not like I was entirely stupid either. I knew how to take care of myself. Mostly.
He stopped at a small restaurant I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t been paying attention. The windows were decorated by hand, and I could see the homely décor through the windows. He held the door open for me, giving me a look with his bright green eyes, and I blushed lightly. There weren’t many people in there, but the soft music playing from the speakers above made the ambiance very welcoming and holy cheese, the smell of warm food…
“You like Italian?” Aidan said, sitting me down at a table.
I nodded. “Where did you find this place?” I asked, looking around, smiling at the pastel paintings on the walls.
He shrugged. “Google.”
I giggled, because he was trying to look all cool and pretend he wasn’t trying to impress me or anything. He rolled his eyes at me, his lips tugging up.
“Hey, only the best for my girl, right?” he said softly, eyes locking with mine.
I was saved from answering when a soft cough sounded beside us. A smiling woman stood at our table, holding a couple of menus. “Welcome to our restaurant,” she said in a slight accent. “Can I get you something to drink?”
