Tiana’s POV:
I’d taken my sketchbook out and was sketching idly in it while Aidan drove silently and Flo Rida was going on about this good feeling he’s got. I was just finishing the shading of my sketch of Aidan’s face when my vision decided to go swimming and take a vacation in some holiday paradise. I cursed under my breath as I faded into another vision.
“Where is he?” a menacing, raspy voice demands.
Two cloaked figures stand in the dark alley between some dirty buildings. The speaker is leaning against a wall, very much in control, while the other one is still and standing in the little bit of moonlight.
“I don’t know,” the other person says, obviously uncomfortable. “He’s disappeared. I haven’t seen him in a while now.”
The first man chuckles, a dark humourless sound. “You lie, Sol, and I can tell. How long do you expect us to ignore you?” He takes a step closer. “Let me rephrase. How long do you expect us to allow you to live?”
“I’m only doing what you’ve told me to do,” Sol replies calmly, inching backwards ever so lightly. “Keeping an eye on the boy. He’s doing well, keeping hidden. What are you accusing me of?”
“You know what, Sol. You’ve betrayed us. You’ve been helping the boy.”
Sol laughs, though I thought it seems kind of forced. “What makes you sprout such absurdity?”
“I don’t think I need to explain,” the man says, coming closer. “You’ve run out of time, Sol. You’re of no more use to us.”
“There’s no point of your interest in him,” Sol pleads. “He knows nothing, remembers nothing. He’s just another youngling, not of importance. He is not a threat----”
“Silence,” the other man commands. “You have no idea, Sol. Goodbye.” And then, moving with the speed of lightning, the man flashes in front of Sol, and stabs him in the heart mercilessly. “See you in hell.” With a maniac laugh, the man disappears.
Sol tried to dodge, but he was taken by surprise. He stumbles, falling against the wall. “You’ll never… have him…” He falls to the ground, unmoving.
I gasped, plunging back into reality, back into the car. Breathing heavily, my eyes focused to find that we’d stopped moving. I glanced over to see Aidan staring at me.
“What did you see?” he asked, his voice tight.
I swallowed. Taking a deep breath, I explained briefly what I’d just witnessed. Aidan showed no expression, except for a sharp intake of breath when I mentioned Sol. I remembered that Sol was his vampire mentor.
While he turned this in his head, I realized that this time, other than a slight prick of annoyance, there was no pain accompanying the vision. I wasn’t sure if this was a good sign or not. Probably not.
