We pulled up next to a crumbly, small building in a deserted street. It looked old and abandoned, as if no one’s been there since the last Ice Age. I shivered, suddenly feeling a chill that had nothing to do with the temperature.
"Your friend lives here?" I asked skeptically.
Aidan ignored me. "Stay here, don’t move, don't make a sound, just wait for me, and whatever you do----" He looked me in the eye. "Do NOT get out of the car. You hear me?"
I looked at him. "You sure this isn’t some top-secret gangster hideout?"
"I'm not kidding, Tiana." He pulled his keys out, a hand on the door. "I'll be right back."
I watched him leave, walking into the building with his hood pulled up. He looked very suspicious to me. I looked up and caught a pair of eyes staring down at me before it disappeared. I ducked back, sliding down in my seat. Now I was beginning to get freaked out. Because those eyes weren't normal. They were red, dark, dark red. Unless my imagination was playing tricks on me, again.
I waited anxiously, tapping my foot, trying to calm myself down. Aidan wouldn't just leave me here. He said he'll be back. Nothing's going to happen...
I couldn’t see any movement, but I felt someone or something creeping up. I tried to tell myself it was my imagination, but I couldn’t shake off the feeling. "Oh, hurry up, Aidan," I murmured, staring worriedly out the window.
The next second, my head exploded in pain. I grabbed my head, trying not to scream. Shit! Why now? I squeezed my eyes shut, clenching my jaw shut to keep a scream from escaping. Flashes if red, black, a pair of green eyes (Aidan's? Nah...). Just when I thought the pain was over, it came again. I breathed heavily, waiting until it subsided slowly. I blinked, still seeing black spots. I glanced up, and this time I screamed out loud.
A man was standing at my window, eyes wide and dark. He grinned widely, and I caught a glimpse of dirty, rotten, sharp teeth. He raised a hand to knock on my window.
Still screaming, I squeezed myself back into my seat. I could hear him cackling madly. I closed my eyes, taking deep breaths, but I was still shaking. What the hell do I do? The doors were locked, so he couldn’t get in, right?"Hey girlie," he rasped, grinning. He licked his lips, and I shuddered in disgust.
"Go away," I told him, my voice unnaturally high. He laughed then launched himself at the car. I shrieked, wondering where the shit Aidan was. Then, flashes of light appeared behind my eyes; I saw a dark alley, a forest, a pool of red, and then, Aidan's face again. I heard screaming, probably my own, then a voice yelling my name and swearing loudly. But I still couldn’t see, and my head hurt, oh crap I think I just hit my hand...
Aidan's POV:
"Hurry up, Gavin," I said, impatiently. I shifted, wishing I had x-ray vision so I could see outside. It was really risky to bring her here, but I had no choice.
"Alright, alright," Gavin drawled, looking up at me lazily. "Keep your fangs on,” he added, grinning.
"Shut up,” I told him, scowling. "I don't know why this couldn't wait."
