Tiana’s POV:
On Saturday morning, I woke up feeling inspirational. I asked Sandra and Darrel if I could go out for a walk so I could draw.
“Oh, sure, why not?” Sandra smiled. “It’s a beautiful day. And, Aidan can go with you!”
“Go with her where?” said Aidan, suddenly appearing in the doorway of the kitchen.
“Tiana wants to go on a walk,” Darrel put in helpfully.
“So?” Aidan sat down to eat.
“It’s alright,” I said quickly. “I just want to go around the neighborhood. I won’t get lost that easily----”
“Aidan will go with you,” Sandra said lightly, but with a hard stare at Aidan. “He can learn to appreciate nature, finally.”
“I’m an indoor person!” Aidan protested, mouth full of food.
“No one is truly an indoor person,” said Sandra wisely.
Aidan glared at me, as if it was me who forced him to come along. “Come on,” he said, heading out the door.
I sighed, grabbing my sketchbook and pencils. I managed a slightly cheerful wave at Sandra and Darrel. This ought to be fun.
Oh, who was I kidding?
Third Person POV:
Darrel frowned at the door as Tiana exited. “You really think it’s a good idea to put those two together? Aidan isn’t really… good at communicating…”
“Oh, they’ll be fine, honey,” Sandra said confidently. “Tiana’s good influence for him. And Aidan might spell trouble, but he’s a good boy at heart. He’s harmless!”
They both grew quiet as they thought back to a few years ago when Aidan had come home with a bruise on his face and a note saying he’d been suspended for putting a kid in the hospital.
“Okay, not exactly harmless,” Sandra relented. “But he won’t hurt her. I know he’s a gentleman deep inside.”
“Deep inside,” muttered Darrel.
