Tiana’s POV:
True to his word, Aidan claimed me as ‘his’ when we went back to school. He was already my ride, so it wasn’t strange to see me climbing out of his car in the parking lot, but what was strange was the fact that as soon as he locked the car, he came around and grabbed my hand. We walked into the building together with my face flaming and the stares of every other person on our clasped hands.
“Real subtle,” I mumbled under my breath as Aidan continued to drag me towards my locker.
“I don’t see you trying to stop it,” he replied, because of course he’d heard me. His devil-may-care smirk was firmly on his face, and his posture still gave out the I-don’t-care-what-you-think vibe, but I knew him enough to know that he was aware of every single stare that lingered on us.
“Tiana! I’ve got to talk to you, I heard some questionable news and you’re the-----” Andrea stopped short when she caught sight of Aidan beside me, or more specifically, Aidan’s hand on mine.
“Hi, Andrea…” I watched her wide eyes trail from me to Aidan, then back to me. “What news were you talking about?”
“So it is true!” Her face split into the biggest grin I’d ever seen. “You guys are officially together! Yes! I knew this day would happen! OMG, we have to go celebrate!”
I glanced at Aidan, who’s staring at Andrea in amusement. He really didn’t seem to care who knew that we were… together. I was strangely really happy about that fact. For someone that never stayed anywhere long enough to feel cared about, this was a pretty awesome change.
“Andrea, calm down,” Nick said, appearing behind her. “It’s not like they’re getting married.” He smiled at me, bearing no sign of jealousy or aggression. He looked happy for me, and I was glad for that.
“But I totally saw this coming, didn’t I?” Andrea grinned. “I am the best matchmaker ever!”
“Now if only you’d work on yourself…” Nick muttered, winking at me.
Andrea frowned. “What are you talking about?”
“Nothing, nothing…”
As the bell rang, we all started toward our classes, and I was beginning to feel not as self-conscious of the staring. Most people have figured out more interesting things to do than ogle mindlessly anyway. Aidan followed me to my class, holding onto my hand the whole time. He kept quiet, looking very nonchalant beside me.
When we got to the door, he pulled me aside, and I looked at him curiously. He brushed a strand of my hair aside, making me blush pink again.
“I need to go somewhere,” he said, straight to the point.
