Almost the whole day had passed as Kanan and Hera were sitting outside the Ghost on the fields of Lothal. It had been a eventful morning, with the death of the Inquisitor being the biggest point in Kanan's mind. He had hoped just a regular job for Vizago would help...return things to normality.
What a fool I am.
He looked to his side, to his Twi'lek darling. Hera looked at him back. They both gave each other a weak smile.
"Sometimes I think..." The Jedi began. "...that maybe I'm somehow responsible for all our misfortunes. I'm not an almighty wise Jedi, you know...".
Hera kissed him on the side of his forehead and put her arm around him.
"I know Kanan. You've told me many time before. You're not perfect, no one ever is, but I'm grateful to have you here for us. Zeb, Ezra, Chopper..."
There was a small silence for a brief moment.
"...and certainly Sabine".
Hera soft and comforting words had placed a small smile on Kanan's face as he looked ahead into the vast fields.
"I'm glad to have all of you. After my Master died during the Jedi Purge, I was alone for a long time. I came across some bad men whom took me in...but they were never truly family".
And now, he had an apprentice. Ezra. Kanan wasn't qualified for a master, he was still a Padawan when the Order fell. But...he needed to start somewhere.
"Perhaps I should be happy I never finished my training. Jedi Masters...the Council? They weren't perfect. I mean, cmon...no love? No marriage? That's an evil in itself".
Hera was flattered that Kanan's affection for her would prompt such a statement.
She gave off a small laugh.
"You trying to convince me to let you in my cabin for the night?".
Kanan glanced at her and chuckled.
"Is it working?"
Hera shook her head and they both looked out to the darkening scenery of Lothal, her head resting on his shoulder.
"Think I should check on Sabine".
Kanan closed his eyes at the mention of her name. He couldn't get the image of the gurgling Inquisitor out of his head.
"She doesn't want anyone coming in her room".
Hera was aware of what happened on the ship, Kanan had told her everything earlier. It was hard to be too upset, the death of the Inquisitor...it would make things easier for them from now on. Whether that was worth the mental impact on Sabine and possible Kanan though...she had yet to see.
"I know, but everyone needs company and its not like she'll force me out. Besides..."
She stood up, still looking at the fields in front of her.
"She'll be hungry. I'll force-feed her if I have to". She said humorously, Kanan couldn't help but smile again.
As she left Kanan to enter the ship, she heard Kanan speak from behind her.
"I'll see you in your cabin, tonight". He said enthusiastically.
Sabine was in her bed, reflecting on the events that transpired earlier that day. She was still in a battle against her judgment, whether she should feel happy about the Inquisitors death or not.
He's dead...but what does Kanan think of me? He's dead...but I had to rip his throat open like some kind of feral wompatt.
Sabine had gotten over it though, to some extent. She had no more tears to shed, she was ready to move on with her life. The death of the Inquisitor was a victory in the end, even if perhaps not to her specifically. The Empire would only be able to throw more incompetent Stormtroopers at them now.
At least he can't rape anyone anymore.
Sabine then heard a knock on her door, Hera being the culprit.
"If I tell you to go away, will you go away?" The young woman called out to her Twi'lek friend.
"Nope".
Sabine rolled her eyes.
"Then you might as well come in".
Hera opened the door and walked in holding a tray of nourishment. She looked over to Sabine, who was watching her with her arms behind her head.
"So, Sabine. Let's talk". Hera sat down on Sabine's bed, the tray on her laps.
Sabine's mouth shifted into a displeased curve.
"Let's not talk".
Sabine still found it to be a touchy subject, though she had thought that about just about everything these past few days.
She quickly gave in to Hera disapproving eyes.
"Okay..." She conceded. "We found the Inquisitor. I killed him. End of story".
Sabine looked into Hera's eyes with a straight face.
"Seriously, Hera. There's nothing more to say. Can we please put it behind us?"
This is a conversation I'd rather save for Kanan.
Hera figured that Sabine would come out eventually if she had anything to express, but she supposed not.
"Well alright then...". Hera said, giving in to Sabine's lack of things to discuss. "Now, suppose you're going to eat or are you on a diet?"
Sabine's eyes widened.
"Diet? I don't need to diet...right?" The Mandalorian shifted one of her hands to feel the skin of her stomach.
Hera smiled at her, shaking her head.
"No, Sabine. You're in great shape, but even you have to eat sometimes. I know you prefer to eat alone but..."
Sabine gave her an unhappy look.
"I always like to eat alone..." Her eyes shifted from Hera and then she smirked. "If you want to make me eat, then I guess you'll just have to spoon-feed me".
Hera shrugged as she brought a fork wrapped in noodles to Sabine's face.
"If I have to".
Sabine tested Hera's commitment to spoon-feeding her by opening her mouth and swallowing the content she was fed, all the while not changing the expression on her straight face.
"Here comes the star fighter..." Hera said as she brought another fork to Sabine's mouth, who was finding it difficult to maintain her straight face.
Hmph.
"You're enjoying this way too much". The artist stated, continuing to allow herself to be fed.
Hera nodded in agreement.
When she was nearly done, Hera decided to bring up a most intriguing subject.
"So, one girl to another..." Hera started as she lowered her voice. "Been making good use of that vibrator?"
Hera couldn't help but grin when Sabine almost choked on her noodles.
"That's...not a topic open for discussion". Sabine coughed as she crossed her arms and her face went a slight red.
Hera shook her head but couldn't help but probe her memory. She thought about the unfortunate event that had to take place in order for Sabine to begin expressing her interest in sex.
"I'm so sorry, Sabine". Hera said miserably. "I can't believe anyone...anything...would ever...ever want to do that to a spunky person like you..."
Sabine's embarrassed face quickly turned to sadness when she realised what Hera was referring to.
The mood had quickly changed, indeed.
They both took a moment of silence as Hera stared into the floor, before Sabine broke it.
"I know". She whispered. "But what happened...happened. I just hope that one day we can...leave it in the past".
Hera covered her face with her hands as she leaned over slightly.
"Just...who?" The pilot whispered back.
Sabine shifted out her bed and brought herself next to Hera, she took the tray from her laps and placed it on the floor. She then wrapped her arms around Hera, who returned the action.
"I just don't want you to grow up in fear of it..." The Twi'lek said to her Mandalorian companion. "I'm just...proud that you're going through it so well. I really am".
Hera's misery was beginning to tug at Sabine's heart, she swallowed a wave of emotion.
"Hera, if you cry...then you'll make me cry". Sabine said with a faint smile.
Hera looked at Sabine and nodded.
"You're right, Sabine. I shouldn't". Hera breathed in and cleared her throat. "I'll leave you alone now. Thanks for...talking".
Sabine watched Hera as she picked up the tray and left her room. The door was closed and Sabine found privacy again. She sighed.
"Hmm. Hera is actually pretty...hot". Sabine ventured to herself as her hand made a slight movement toward her crotch.
She then suddenly shook her head and forced her lustful hand away from her womanhood.
Did I really just say that? Hah, Sabine you're not homosexual.
