The Shadow Caster came out of Hyperspace to enter the Tatooine system. The desert planet of gangs, slavery, podracing and a whole lot of murder...perfect habitat for bounty hunters such as Ketsu. There was an almost endless supply of work possible on the planet, many people had enemies...and they were all looking for a skilled gun to take them out.
However, Ketsu was no longer a freelance bounty hunter. She worked for the Black Sun, and took up assignments that they offered to her. Less freedom...but the pay is a lot better.
"Let's recap, shall we?" Sabine proposed at her side as Ketsu piloted the ship. "We are meeting a farmer in Mos Eisley, in Chalmuns Catina. He will apparently be waiting for us, we don't know he looks like but...he'll know when we are there. He'll fill us in on more details".
There wasn't much information regarding what exactly was being smuggled, but the fact that it's something the Empire apparently wouldn't like...it made it acceptable on Sabine's terms...and the pay was particularly good so Ketsu couldn't say no.
Ketsu moved the ship down through the planets atmosphere for Mos Eisley, a spaceport for the most vile and dangerous of scourges. She landed the ship in the first free docking bay she could find, docking bay two hundred.
"What a dangerous place for two teenage girls..." Ketsu remarked humorously, slipping her helmet over her head.
Sabine followed suit and helmeted herself.
"Maybe, but these two girls are Mandalorians with intimidating armour and scary weapons" Sabine told her. "No basic criminal will dare touch us".
The both hopped down the ladders to the cargo hold. Before they left the ship, Ketsu stopped Sabine and firmly placed her hands on her shoulders, gaining her sharp attention.
"Now remember, Sabine..." Ketsu began. "Let me handle all the talking. You may not like it, but we are representing the Black Sun out here...you have to look professional...and you have to leave ethnics out of this, no matter how bad it may get. Understand?"
Sabine nodded, but she knew that she'd find it difficult to simply stand by and watch the worst examples that life could offer...and what better place to find such examples than Tatooine? This was a simple smuggling assignment however, so she doubted that anything too troublesome would occur.
Just delivering some likely-to-be-harmless cargo.
Hopefully....unlikely.
They left the Shadow Caster together, and the intense heat in the air hit them both through their armour. It was going to be a very uncomfortable trip as long as they remained here, it seemed. Sabine may have spent a bit of time in the heat in the past to gain her tan, but that was when she was dressed in swimwear...not fully clad in her armour...she was going to be like a greenhouse.
"I'm taking an ice-cold shower when we get off this planet..." Sabine mumbled. "I feel sorry for the people here..."
Then again, the people here are used to it.
Ketsu chuckled. The heat didn't bother her too much, she had never had too much trouble with sunburns or that sort of thing thanks to her skin complexion.
"Keep your helmet on, Sabine" She told her. "Don't want that pretty skin of yours getting burnt, do we?"
Hmph. Take that helmet off, and even you can get sunburnt given enough time.
The two Mandalorians found what was Chalmuns Cantina, a building with a simple sign over its entrance identifying it as a cantina. This is where they would be meeting their client, in one of the most shady places in the Galaxy.
"Don't like this place. If a creep threatens us, can I snap their neck?" Sabine asked.
Ketsu was caught off guard at the odd request of permission.
"That seems a little bloodthirsty for you" Ketsu replied. "Besides, like you said? No one will dare touch you".
The Black Sun didn't care about how you did the job, as long as you satisfied the client. A good reputation would only encourage others to hire the services of Black Sun bounty hunters. Ketsu needed to make sure Sabine didn't give a bad impression during the contract.
"It's not like when we were freelancers" She thought. "Now, we need to take things more seriously".
Despite not being involved in Rebel affairs, Sabine felt a certain pleasure in working with Ketsu again. It brought back feelings of nostalgia...and she almost couldn't believe that two years had passed since her last contract with her.
Feels like the last one happened yesterday.
"I gotta admit, Ketsu..." Sabine began. "Being with you...heh, I'm really happy we found each other again".
Ketsu stopped a moment and faced Sabine. Her personal words pleased her, because the feelings were mutual. She too found it enjoyable to be in her friends company once more.
"Hey...we're best buds, y'know?" Ketsu said assuringly. "I know there's been some...complications between us, mostly because of me...but I'm just hoping we can move on".
Ketsu patted Sabine's shoulder, and the younger Mandalorian nodded.
"Me too".
They stared at each other silently, through the visors of their helmets, before Ketsu noticed the awkwardness.
"Okay, let's move on..." Ketsu said, breaking the silence. "...before we start kissing each other and getting naked in this heat, huh?"
Sabine chuckled. To her, that honestly didn't sound that bad.
Let's.
