Outside the Ghost, in Garel City docking bay twenty, Sabine swiftly and skilfully moved across the crates and other objects she had placed. She scrapped together anything she could find in the nearby vicinity to make an obstacle course, it wasn't anything too fancy but the Mandalorian was advised by Hera to 'warm up'...especially since it had been six weeks from her last active mission.
Well, she was present for some missions...but nothing that was all that physically demanding of her. Sabine was there during Hera's mission to acquire a B-wing, as well as the task of finding the old Clone Wars veteran: Captain Rex. Aside from that, Sabine spent a lot of time in the Ghost...she felt useless.
No more, though.
"Hup!" Sabine leapt over the last crate and landed with a slight stumble. "Whoo...I'm a bit out of shape...aren't I?"
Hera, who was watching the girl exercise, looked rather satisfied with her performance. It was noticeable that her friend was quite rusty, however...there was a slight sloppiness in her movement and she seemed a little unusually out of breath, panting a little too hard.
"A bit rusty, hm?" The Twi'lek said to her. "That's all right, you'll shake that off very soon, I'll bet".
The Mandalorian stood up straight after getting her breath back and nodded at Hera. She took out her WESTAR-35's and skilfully twirled them in her fingers, then proceeded to show off several quick postures.
"Bang!" Sabine called out, moving her hand to fake a recoil from her blaster. "I may be a little out of shape physically...but I'm fairly certain I haven't lost my marksmanship skills..."
After giving her blasters another twirl, she holstered them and looked to Hera for her assessment. The Twi'lek smiled and transferred some data to Sabine's computer-linked gauntlets. The Mando brought up the information and studied it with interest.
"Let's do a recap of the mission..." Hera began. "We've received rather convincing intel that a member of the Imperial Senate is coming here to Garel..."
Sabine brought up an image of a Gungan. The name of the Senator was Jar Jar Binks, the Naboo representative on the Imperial Senate.
"Why's he being brought here?" She asked. "Wouldn't a Senator have a lot of security...? I mean, I'm not arguing or anything, but...?"
"We don't really know, actually..." Hera admitted. "But what makes him interesting is that he has shown some sympathy towards the Rebellion...and the Empire doesn't seem to particularly like him. He's not coming here with a full Imperial escort...in fact, I'd imagine he'd only have a few guards with him on the regular public transport".
Sabine acknowledged Hera.
I can't argue, it's seems like a good start to get back on my feet.
The Rebellion were always looking to add more power to the cause. Having a member of the Senate on their side, one who represents one of the most influential planets in the Galaxy, would be a notable asset.
"Alright, I get ya...we need more allies..." Sabine began. "But I gotta ask...why is this mission being treated like a side-ops? Wouldn't something as significant as...well, having a whole planets secretive support...be a little...prioritised?"
"Well, the truth is..." Hera began to explain. "Word of Mr. Binks travel wasn't kept entirely secret...it's almost as if the Empire are asking for someone to shoot him...Senators are popular targets for bounty hunters. However, if we can secure him..."
The rest was self-explanatory.
Hera had faith that Sabine could complete the task alone, and thus didn't deem it necessary to send her with back-up...Sabine wanted a solo mission anyways. Commander Sato didn't believe the info was worth picking up on, but checking it out wouldn't hurt too much...the Rebels couldn't afford to be picky.
When all was understood, the girl nodded and took her helmet off one of the crates, she slipped it over her head and looked back at Hera.
"I'll get that Senator on our side" She promised, stretching her rusty limbs to prepare for action. "I got everything I need to know on my computer?"
Hera confirmed that she had everything. They gave each other their quick goodbyes, and Hera let Sabine know that she'd keep the comlink channels open.
"Remember Sabine..." Hera called after her. "We need to keep the Senator's reputation with the Empire intact...you have to make it look like you're taking him captive!"
Breaks over, Sabine. Time to do your bit for the Rebellion.
