Sabine felt a thud on her face as she was forced out of her sleep. She shot her eyes open and saw herself on the floor next to her bed.
Ow.
Groaning, she rubbed her head and stood up.
She didn't manage to stay awake the whole night, last night. She eventually grew too tired and went to bed...she doubted anyone was pursuing her.
Did I seriously just roll out of my bed?
It was morning on Garel, and more importantly...it was Life Day today. Life Day was a festive holiday celebrated by the Wookies of Kashyyk every year. Since their mass slaving by the hands of the Empire, it became respectful for all to celebrate the tradition. Unless you actually liked the Empire, in that case you'd ignore it.
The true meaning behind it however was not the sharing of gifts, it was the appreciation of family. Sabine certainly did have family to appreciate, and she would show that appreciation for them today by making them all a Mandalorian lunch...she was rather rusty at the art of cuisine but she reckoned she could do it.
She went out her room and into the Galley, where she saw Zeb ransacking the cupboards.
"Is there nothing to eat in here...?" He mumbled as he dug his hands around blindly.
Sabine grinned as she quietly snuck behind him, then slammed her hands on his back and yelled at the top of her lungs.
"HAPPY LIFE DAY, ZEB!"
The Lasat screamed like a girl and quickly turned around, his back pressed against the wall. He looked at her shocked...then groaned as he hung his head.
"Don't. Do. That" He warned her, pointing his finger at her while keeping his head down.
Sabine chuckled and looked around the Galley. The place was picked clean by Zeb.
"So...there's nothin?" She asked as she peeked into a fridge.
Zeb shook his head and gave up searching for food.
"Nah. We need to go on another supply run.." He slammed the door of a cupboard closed. "Bah! I'm not waiting for Hera to make a list...hey, Sabine, wanna go and just buy ourselves breakfast?"
The girls stomach rumbled as he said that, she could so go for some space waffles right about now. She removed her head from the fridge and nodded.
"Totally! Let me just get changed in my room and we'll go right away".
Ezra emerged from his cabin, his eyelids still feeling heavy. He stretched his arms and yawned. Last night was rather...interesting for him.
"Very late night yesterday" He thought to himself, unable to hold back a smile. "I kissed Sabiiiine!"
It was Life Day today, and Ezra had never quite celebrated it before. He knew of its existence but never had anyone to enjoy it with, until now.
"I wanna buy Sabine a present" he decided. "She deserves a nice present".
He peeked into Sabine's cabin to make sure that she was safely in the Ghost, having last seen her going on her own way to the Garel markets. She wasn't in her room, and that was a strange sight...Sabine was often the last one up, at least this week she had been.
"Hold on, did she even find an open store that late into the night?" He questioned, suddenly hoping she did...otherwise he might have gotten her pregnant.
Her sleepwear was on the floor, and her armour was gone. He didn't know if she did make it back and simply got up early, or if she never came back at all.
"Oh...dear..."
He searched the rest of the ship, calling out her name, but he couldn't find her and got no response. He couldn't find Zeb either.
Too curious not to find out where she and Zeb was, he went back into his cabin and fished for his comlink in his clothes on the floor.
"Spectre five?" He said as he turned it on and set it to Sabine's frequency. "You okay?...you alive...?"
Sabine and Zeb were waiting patiently at a table, in a cantina. The place was rather busy, filled with beings wanting to have a nice breakfast...or their morning coffee.
"Enjoying your vacation, Zeb?" Sabine asked as she twiddled her thumbs, while looking at the window to see the street being crossed with many different species.
"Eh, I sorta miss punching bucketheads" he admitted, reading the menu out of boredom.
Yes, Sabine wouldn't mind getting into some action again...this was the second day of their three-day vacation, just one more day and they'd be going back to Lothal.
"...and how's it been for you?" He asked.
Sabine smiled behind her helmet, this small vacation has proved to be...an interesting experience.
"Eh, I changed my look...not much else".
She knew that was a big fat lie.
A server droid wheeled up next to them, and placed their food before them. Zeb almost threw the menu to one side and looked at eagerly at his breakfast.
"One bukk canapé and one short stack of waffles with syrup" the droid said, naming their food.
As the droid wheeled off, Zeb wasted no time tucking into his canapé roll.
Careful Zeb, I don't want to have to send you back with a tummy ache.
Sabine poured some of her syrup onto her waffles and removed her helmet, placing it to one side. She licked her lips and rubbed her hands together, ready to eat.
She took a fork of the waffles and brought it to her mouth, but just before she could start munching, her comlink went off. The voice speaking was easily recognisable as Ezra.
"Spectre five? You okay...? You alive?"
She placed the fork down and took the comlink off her belt.
"Yeah, Ezra...what is it?" She asked, slightly irritated.
Ezra was almost relieved she was okay.
"Nothin, I just wanted to make sure you were okay" he leaned against the wall of his cabin and smiled stupidly to himself. "...and if you wanted to talk about last night..."
She rolled her eyes and cut off the comlink, returning to the task of eating.
"...was just Ezra, making sure we weren't dead or somethin" she explained to Zeb.
He acknowledged her but was too busy eating to give her a meaningful response.
"Getting breakfast...is serious business" she said with an overdramatised tone.
