Pain

Sabine found herself in a familiar place, one which she didn't feel comforted by: an endless black void, filled with bright stars. She had once dreamt being in such a place...but, if memory serves...it wasn't a good dream or a good experience...few of her dreams ever were. Fact was, underneath that colourful armour and that spitfire-like attitude? There was a very disturbed girl.
"Hey mom"
Sabine jerked around to see a boy of equal age to her. She immediately recognised the figure...J'enga. The boy she had dreamt of once before, the one who had tormented her in her sleep. She thought this was all done...but here he was, to bring pain upon her once again.
"You...need to leave me alone..." Sabine demanded, pointing at him and taking a step back. "You're not real, and you never will be!"
He chuckled and shrugged. He placed his hands behind his back and moved closer to her.
"You made sure of that the first time, didn't you?" He told her, reminded her of the time she took the first abortion shot after her predicament with the Inquisitor. "Man, I didn't even get a cha-"
"You were unwanted!" She interrupted, hissing. "I never deserved to have to deal with this! I did what was right, for me!"
Sabine never regretted doing what she did. Kanan was somewhat disappointed with her, for making that choice...but he was a Jedi, he saw everything differently. He wouldn't have understood the struggles of teenage pregnancy. What was Sabine meant to do, if she went along with it? There was no room for kids in her life...not now, not ever.
Unwanted.
"But mom!" He continued, his words carving into her. "The Resol'nare demands you raise your children as Mandalorians! You KILLED yours!"
Sabine disagreed. She had never killed any child of hers...whatever was growing inside her, wasn't sentient, wasn't alive. It was an abomination forced inside her from a monstrous Pau'an.
"NO!" She yelled at him, taking a threatening step forward. "And stop calling me that!"
But he persisted. He went on about how wonderful things could've been if he was alive...on how Sabine had robbed him of his chance to live...
"I was your family..." He said with a sigh.
Sabine would beg to differ.
He's not real. He never was real. He wouldn't know anything.
As she was forced to listen, she was pained more and more. Her knees gave way and she fell over, slowly falling into a quiet sob. The pain was as excruciating as it was when she first had a dream such as this.
"What do you want me to say!?" She called out helplessly, looking up at him. "That I'm sorry? It's not like it'd change anything, you're dead! Gone! Whatever!"
He crouched down and looked at her with a smile.
"No..." He began. "There's another chance...another chance!"
Upon close inspection, Sabine noticed that he didn't look all the same as when she first saw him. The Pau'an features were gone, and replaced with...well, it was all human. He had her chin and brows...but she couldn't help but notice the nose, blue eyes and black hair.
Ezra.
"Yeah..." He nodded, as if reading her thoughts. "You get it now..."
Sabine wanted to just destroy him. She wanted him gone...to stop his tormenting. She reached out for him, violently, and he faded into white sparkles when she made the slightest contact. She stood up and took a deep breathe, wiping her face with her hands and stroking back her hair.
"Oh, look at you!" She heard a distance away. "Growing up so fast!"
She turned to face a small toddler waddle into the arms of a man, of her father. He picked up the child and cuddled it in his arms.
"Oh, mommy would be so proud of you if she was here!" He exclaimed. "Who's going to be a strong Mando when they grow up? You are, young lady!"
She looked on, watching with a sadness in her face. Although she KNEW these couldn't be real, since she had no memories of actually being a baby...they still hurt to watch. ALL this, was now gone. She just had herself in her family left. Rook was never there for her, and could never be considered family.
Can hardly consider her my mother.
"Let's see if your friend Ketsu wants to play, hm?" He supposed, taking the much younger Sabine away and fading into the void...leaving only a final essence of his voice. "You two are so great together..."
She didn't want to see anymore. She closed her tight and shook her head, only to open them up and see nothing had changed. She attempted multiple times, and was shocked by what was in front of her by the last attempt. She fell on her back and backed away from what was a mutilated, hanging corpse of her girlfriend.
"Ketsu..." She whimpered, holding her hand out weakly.
Walking beside the body, was Ezra. He smiled when glancing at the bloody remains and then focussed his attention on Sabine. He stepped to her, and offered his hand.
"C'mon Sabine" He urged her. "Let's all be family...that's what you always loved, right? Family?"
Beside him on his right, stood Rook...she also held her hand out. To Ezra's left, was J'enga. Three hands were reaching out for her...and as she looked in horror, she saw them be set alight into flames before her. As they burned away, they all looked at Sabine with a still, unmoving face.
"Family..." They all said together.
As the fire grew more violent, Sabine's vision finally faded. Although none of it was real, the pain very much was.
