"I'll be back in a sec," I smiled at Ryan while walking off.
I looked down at the screen and read the caller ID again. After I was far enough, I answered the phone.
"Hey gorgeous. I thought you were coming to JJ's BBQ?" he said after my greeting.
"Oh, I am," I replied while nodding before realizing he couldn't see me.
"Are you on your way?" he asked.
He had offered to drive me over there the last time we hung out. I thought it was sweet of him, but I usually preferred to drive myself to places to be able to have more control and leave whenever I wanted. I usually didn't like sticking around much anyways.
"I've had a small...delay, but yeah, I'll be there in some time."
"Alright, can't wait to see you later!" he said.
I flipped a rock over with my foot while smiling at the ground, "alright. Bye," I hung up.
Is this one of those scenes in the movie where the girl stands in the middle while having two really hot guys on either side so she has to choose?
Wait. Ryan? Ryan was an option? I didn't even know I liked him. Can I like 2 people or is that a big no no?
When looked up while walking, I watched as Ryan sat inside of the car with the his leg keeping the door open. I approached and tilted my head in confusion as to what he was doing before he looked up. Ryan then waved me over and sat inside, closing the door. I walked around the car to sit in the passenger seat. He was playing on his phone while I looked at him before he glanced at me and gave me a small sweet smile.
This guy didn't seem like the baseball jock, man-whore hitting on me at the bar or the jerk that was my English paper partner.
He seemed peaceful and comfortable in the silence. I was as well, but I wanted to start a conversation. I wanted to talk to him.
                              Say something. Anything.
"Tell me more about youself," I said while readjusting myself and turning towards him.
Ryan kept his eyes on the phone screen and replied, "what do you want to know?"
"I don't know," I giggled, "birthday, favorite color, favorite food...What's your major? How did you grow up?" I rambled.
He must have thought I was so weird. I could have sworn he wasn't even listening to me until he smiled while locking his phone and sliding it into the empty slot underneath the radio and AC area.
"Okay," he laughed, "my name is Ryan Wade Cole. I'm 19 and I was born the 6th of February. My favorite color is probably navy blue. I can accurately say that I like all food, but if I had to choose it would have to be Italian. I was born in Bronx, New York but I lived in Staten Island. I lived there until I moved here when I was 15. I used to play football plus the baseball but then I dropped it and stuck with baseball," he took a loud breath, making me laugh. "Oh and I'm a business administration major and plan to minor in project management."
"My name is Kristen Ann Fitzgerald," I smiled. "My birthday is October 1st so I basically just turned 19. My favorite color is red and my favorite food would have to be your average pepperoni pizza. I was born in Miami and I lived there until I got an academic scholarship from WEU. I'm majoring in psychology. I used to play tennis and soccer, but now I focus more on volleyball, even though I only play club," I concluded.
He smiled after I finished. "This is cool. I like learning more about you."
I smiled as well. "So what else?"
