Tuesday
After putting on my sleeveless white Rolling Stones shirt along with the lightly ripped skinny jeans, I didn't have the energy to fix my hair. I accepted my natural waves then moved on to quickly add some make-up. I soon finished, grabbed my stuff and walked out the door.
I pushed the building door and languidly walked through the hallway. The loud bell roared over the crowd of students as I ran my fingers through my hair and strolled towards my history class.
When I reached for the door, someone’s arm flung above me. I looked up and saw Ryan being the one preventing me from getting any further. His ascendancy over me was obvious.
                              "Move" I demanded.
"Listen...I called to apologize. I was overreacting and had no means to hurt you"
“Alright, whatever, Ryan; just let me go to class” I said.
“Can’t we talk for a minute?” he asked.
“No, I don’t want to talk” I replied impassively.
“I am so confused, Kristen.  I have no idea why you are taking this so seriously” he replied.
“Because it hurt me for you to treat me the way you did”
For the first time today, I looked into his eyes. Every time mine met with his deep greens, I would crumble into his arms. Not this time. Despite the way he talked to me at the party and his rude threatening towards Jake yesterday, I was mad at something more. He told me to shut up along with commenting that I was an embarrassment. That hurt so much, since the beginning I have always had that tiny strand of him believing that, but I tried to convince myself he didn't think of me that way.
“Babe, I was trying to protect you. I apologized, too. What more do you want?” Ryan said.
“Protect me by talking to me like I was a piece of crap? Oh come on, Ryan, you don’t have a better excuse?” I crossed my arms.
                              “Excuse?” he tittered.
“What’s wrong with you?” I rolled my eyes while trying to open the door, but it was a lost cause when I noticed his hand still pushing it closed.
“I am trying to talk to you, Kristen. You are the one who is trying to get out of this as if you like being mad at me. I actually don’t enjoy you ignoring me, so here I am to fix it” he said.
“Why didn't you think about me ignoring you before, huh? A couple days ago you were yelling at me and today you are acting like you care-”
"Acting? I don't think I have to act to show you that I care. I am actually offended to know that you think that way" he interrupted.
Okay, maybe if he would let me finish my sentence that would be better...
"Let me go to class, Ryan"
"Not until you forgive me and quit being mad" he replied.
I glared up at him with serious eyes.
Seconds after, he sighed and removed his hand form the door while he toke a step back. I silently thanked him by nodding and walked into the room.
"30 minutes late? Fitzpatrick, what has gotten into-"he paused then looked behind me “Cole” he sighed “Go back outside you two. You already missed 30 minutes of my class, might as well miss the rest.”
                              "But-" I began.
                              "Outside now" he barked.
This must be some kind of joke. I turned around, walked passed Ryan– out the door.
