Name: Syne Nighes
District: 8
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Weapon: His own hands, or a sword
Appearance: He has black shaggy, straight hair, that often falls into his eyes. His eyes are a piercing shade of green, almond-shaped. They're always open and alert, watching and observing. The muscles that line his body are perfectly shaped and sculpted. His facial features are smooth and angular. Countering his handsome looks are jagged scars that line around his throat, often making people cringe or turn away from him.
Personality: Syne will joke and laugh with the only person he trusts—Rii. With anyone else, he chooses not to get close, simply because of everything he's been through. He's determined and hard-working, and will not quit when he sets his mind to something. Because he and Rii ran away and provided for their needs on their own since they were both fifteen, he's matured way more than other people his age, and has been an adult for some time.
Strengths (max 5): Because he's quiet, he prefers to observe and watch situations unfold before he acts. He always thinks things through, which usually keeps him from getting into unnecessary situations. He avoids fights if he can, but he isn't afraid to fight, or kill if he has to. He and Rii work together as a team, and because the two have known each other for so long, and lived together since they were fifteen, they often move, work and fight as one person.
Weaknesses (min 4): He uses sign language to talk, which means that he often is quiet and doesn't speak to others. This will make it difficult for him to make allies. He also relies on Rii to communicate or translate for him, which can also be a major setback. Even though he's good at fighting hand-to-hand combat because of his time on the streets, he's not trained with any weapons. His last weakness is that against a trained person, he will more than likely not get the upper hand, which could be a major problem.
Backstory: Syne's parents died in a tragic accident when he was only three years old, leaving him scarred. For most of his childhood, he never spoke, especially as he lived at an orphanage. There, he befriended a girl named Rii, who finally got him to speak for the first time when he was five. Despite that he hadn't spoken since his parents died, he knew the words just like any other child. At age eight, his aunt and uncle found and took him in, although he stayed friends with Rii and saw her whenever he was allowed. His uncle was a drunk who often beat him, and his aunt did nothing to stop it, often joining in with the uncle in the beatings. When he was fifteen, he ran away and met up with Rii. They both joined and worked at a factory, splitting the bills so they could stay in a poor shack in the poorer parts of town. They worked very hard to provide for themselves together ever since. A year later, an accident happened at the plant one night when Syne was working, and afterward his vocal cords had somehow been damaged, leaving him with no voice. No one knows what really happened, but all the injuries that workers sustained that night were burns and blindness, not anything to do with the vocal cords. She had questioned him several times, but he never talks about it. He uses sign language to communicate with her, since he can still hear. Though sometimes, she'll use sign language back, since the two know each other so well.
Token: Rings that he and Rii exchanged when they were children in the orphanage. He gave his mother's ring to her, and she gave him her father's wedding ring on the day he finally spoke.
