The End of All Words

I'm terribly sorry for the delay in all of this. Due to a deadly combination of procrastination and a certain reluctance to end these Games, I ended up delaying this for a pathetically long time. I am so, so sorry for this- I truly didn't mean for the gap to stretch out for so long. Thank you all for bearing with me as I struggled with this.

You all have already heard me say what a wonderful job the three of you have done over the course of Literature, so let's just get down to business. You've been waiting long enough for this news.

THIRD PLACE:
ESTHER TEHNOS, DISTRICT FIVE
She was a girl who began her journey as cheerful, who wore a smile each day despite the struggles that plagued her inside. Reaped at the tiny, pure age of thirteen, her journey lasted remarkably long, maintaining a solid position near the top of the tributes. She survived through obstacle after obstacle, and suddenly the struggles hiding beneath her facade of happiness crawled from the shadows into the spotlight. Esther Tehnos had changed. Esther Tehnos was alone. Esther Tehnos was not safe.

Esther Tehnos was dead.

That being said, you did a fantastic job in these games, annlu03! Both of us were very impressed with your writing and overall performance. You definitely deserve to be in the finals, and we hope you're as proud of yourself as we are of you.

SECOND PLACE:
ASPEN KINSLEY, DISTRICT SEVEN
A girl of many personalities, Aspen identified herself as a threat from the start. Producing a roller coaster of ups and downs, the Capital watched from start to finish as her emotions ran wild. Many knew Aspen would make it far, and she lived up to their expectations as a fighter, battling her way through seemingly endless challenges. She wandered through stories and her past, attempting to find her place, reverse her mistakes, resurrect the dead. But in the end, Aspen Kinsley realized something she'd been struggling to find ever since her first battle in the Capital.

And that was how lost she truly was.

Stunning job, TheShineOfTheMoon! This was a well-earned second place, and we hope you're satisfied with both it and your entire performance these games. It's really been a joy to read each of your tremendous entries and follow Aspen throughout the Games. We're so glad you didn't follow through with dropping out before the first task.

AND THIS MEANS OUR VICTOR IS...
KATELYN 'KATE' DODGER, DISTRICT FOUR
The Gamemakers couldn't deny that this girl was a front runner right from the start, despite her claims of being ordinary. From Narnia to the Shire to Hogwarts to the Annex to Oz to Germany, she revealed just how deep of a person she was, how she shone far brighter than the other stars cast into the arena next to her. Fueled by the voice of her mother, she persevered to the final few, defying the odds and suddenly finding herself without competition. Katelyn Dodger was just a girl.

But she was an extraordinary one.

Magnificent work, WhovianHorseLover! You managed to surpass both of our expectations throughout all of Literature, and this is a win very much deserved. Your writing for Katelyn was beyond beautiful, and we simply can't describe how happy we are that you joined our Games and kept up a stellar performance to the end. Congratulations on a well-earned victory.

And so, for the last time in Literature, we bid you adieu.
