District 1 Male: Flame Pheonix Pirkas

"Anticipation leads the way to victory, and is the spur to conquest."My heart raced in my chest as the tube began ever rising, "Finally today was the day... The games were ready to begin!" I could feel the adrenaline and anticipation coursing through my veins as the clink of metal upon metal signaled to me the fact we were upon the surface. I was ready for whatever the tributes, whatever the game makers, had ready and waiting for me.I heard the sound of a timer start. My eyes roved over the new arena the game makers had made to demonize us with. The arena was covered in thick, walking encumbering snow. Gigantic pine trees covered the area making it into a woods circled around us. Beyond the trees I didn't know what dangers they had prepared for us, I was excited to find out though. Us 22 tributes were lined in a perfect circle around the cornucopia, well I'm guessing it's the cornucopia. It didn't seem like any I have seen before.... It was simple, just a lamppost with a faint candle gleaming its light toward us. Instead of the usual backpacks lining the area there were these wrapped boxes, resembling presents we would receive for Christmas Day. It seemed rather strange to me but no matter, I didn't care. The timer was at 10 seconds when my thoughts flooded back to what was actually happening, my feet moved into a running stance and my heart raced. "I'm ready for this! I'm ready to be the winner!"The last chime sounded and we were off! Teenagers flooding in different directions looking for escape routes, people to kill, or the closet box they could possible find.I sprinted for a lone box in the corner of the arena. Quickly picking it up and opening it I found my self face to face with a box of throwing knives. My eyes spotted the young tribute from 12 Marcus securing away with a box gripped firmly in his hand. I smirked menacingly gripping the throwing knife and quickly swinging. It hit him square center in between his shoulder blade and he fell to the ground with a hard thud. Walking over and picking up the knife from his bleeding body I put my foot on top of his back making it so he couldn't escape, "Coming from such a loser district like yours should of made you realize you shouldn't of gone trying to get a box!" I said jabbing the knife into his rib cage. A loud scream escaped the boys lips and I walked away leaving the boy bleeding in a slush of bloody snow.I picked up the box he had dropped and began prying the stupid rapping paper from its contents. Suddenly a sharp pain found its way to my shoulder and I turned around to find the distract 8 male Syne holding a bloody knife in his hand. I stood for a moment wide eyed as I gripped the back of my shoulder feeling precious blood escape the wound he inflicted upon me. I saw him raise his knife again and I darted off toward the pine covered woods. My feet padded on the soft snow as I ran, a small trail of red drops following me. "Well this was just great!" I mumbled to myself as I ran. "I need something to bandage this wound or someone could easily fine me!"Looking around for anything that could be used left me not looking where I was going and I stupidly ran square center into something. I fell backwards onto the floor and, looking up to see what I hit showed me I ran into a faun. A ugly creature resembling a goat with a human upper body. He was slightly taller then me when I'm standing and looked fairly strong and muscular. The only thing draped over his pale body was a vibrant red scarf and his fluffy brown fur. He looked down at me, his ears all upturned with curiosity. "Now what is this? Why is a human in these here forests?"I held my arm tight, it still bleeding though now quite as much, "Um I'm in the Hunger Games, they sent us here for the bloodbath." Stepping behind me he caught a glimpse of my wound, "Well a bloodbath is right, look at your arm son. Let me take you to my house, we'll fix you right up there."I was slightly suspicious of the strange creature but reluctantly I decided to follow him, it's not like I can keep hobbling through the snow bleeding. I smiled at him and nodded in agreement. He grasped my hand lifting me up and we started walking. It was an interesting sight watching a human with a deer body walking in front of me but, I managed to keep my mouth shut about it as we trudged through the knee deep snow. His hoofs seemed much better for this than the simple sneakers I was walking in, they were soaked through and through. We walked through the pine forest for some minutes before coming to one of the few non-pine trees. It was a gigantic oak tree probably having been growing here for centuries. Tucked within the tree laid a small green door with a little peep hole and black door nob. The large faun opened the small door and began walking inside.I followed him into his quaint dwellings. It was a small little place, consisting of some mismatched chairs, cupboard, rug, table stand, and a beautiful roaring fire. The clomping of his hoofs became much more pronounced against the beautiful dark hardwood flooring. Looking at me, with upturned ears he gave me a warm smile, "So human my name is Mister Turmns what about you?"I smiled slightly back, "The names Flame." He snickered slightly, "Such an odd name for such an odd boy. I like it! So Flame lets get that wound cleaned up." He walked away down a small hallway and seconds later came back with a little first aid kit. "Take a seat anywhere you would like Flame."I slowly walked over to the soft tan color couch stationed right in front of the warm fire and looked back at him. He followed feet clopping, "Take your shirt off please."I obeyed pulling off the blood stained jacket and upper part of the tight fitting black jump suit all of us tributes were required to wear. I winced slightly as I pulled them off from the damaged shoulder but tried to pretend like it didn't hurt as much as it actually did. Standing behind me the faun opened the kit with a soft snap and I heard him digging inside for something. "So Flame besides the wound here how is your Hunger Games treating you?I heard the sound of liquid sloshing around and I looked back at him slightly, "It's been pretty good I guess, this games is unlike anything we've had before." A sharp pain hit my shoulder and I cringed. "It's some disinfectant, to keep the wound from becoming infected," He said slowly. He held it there for what felt like an eternity before taking it away from the soft skin and cleaning the blood from my shoulder. "This wound dosen't seem that bad, you should be just fine."Nodding slowly was all the reaction he got from me, my mind drifted to the warm flames emitted from the alluring fire sitting in front of me. Flames had always been something of an interest to me, even when I was small. I remember stealing my fathers lighter at night after he went to bed and taking it to my room staring at the small inferno. Sometimes I would hold it up to a mirror letting my eyes behold the closeness they and my hair had to it.He began rapping my arm in a tight gauze and soon any notice of the wound was gone. "Looks like your all sat up Flame!" I smiled pulling my garments back on and looking at him, "Thank you so much Mr. Turmns! I don't know what I could of done without you!"He closed the first aid kit and walked back down the hall back to where I assume it belonged. I appreciated his kindness but know it was time to get back on the rode. I have tributes to kill after all. I stood up looking at the fire one last time before he returned. "Leaving so soon Flame?"Before I could reply a throwing star flew through the air right past me. "What the fuck!" I looked back at him to find him staring at me, a huge evil grin plastered on his face. "You can leave Flame, but only in a body bag!" He ran up to me a knife in his hand. I barely had time to react before the knife whizzed above my head cutting off some of my hair. I ducked quickly trying to escape the frontal assault. My eyes darted around the room looking for some sort of weapon when my eyes fell upon a long sword hanging on a mantel.Without a second thought my feet raced off toward the mantel, a angry faun racing at my heels. Grabbing at the sword I grasped it and swung it in the direction of the animal and hit it square center in his exposed chest. He was dazed and I used that as a moment to run for my life. I sprinted toward the door opening it and escaping from his lair."Back into the dreaded snow," I mumbled to myself catching my breath from the great exertion. I looked back to find the tree gone from my sight and crowded in again by the many pine trees. I swallowed hard looking forward once again to find myself face to face with another unexpected object. This time though it proved to be a wardrobe. It was big and tall, covered in beautiful mahogany wood. The handle was gold incrusted and it looked like it was worth more then my entire life. The strange urge to venture inside proved to be to strong for me to resist.Slowly gripping the freezing handle I turned the nob and opened the heavy door. Venturing inside I saw big thick coats similar to the one draped over my ice cold skin, I continued to move forward the temperature increasing with ever step tell the coat proved to be to hot for the location I was now in. Soon my eyes came into contact with the front of the immense wardrobe and they fell upon a lone book just waiting for me to grab and start reading.Bending over I picked up the lather backed book and began examining the contents.
