The suite itched, my mind twitched, I felt like I was overheating. Today was the day of the bloodbath. I don't know how but, an overwhelming sense of fear began overshadowing me. Could I really do this? Can I really win?
"All tributes to their tubes!" Screeched a loud female voice through the intercom. My feet shakily began moving toward it. The thing that would take me up to my possible demise. I slowly stepped inside and it immediately took off toward the surface. I ran my hand over my face taking a deep breath and, looking at the many quickly moving lights I passed as I rose. "Fear will be your undoing Devin get your head in the game!" I bit my lip as I felt the clink of the tube reaching the surface.
I looked at my suit, trying to get my mind off the fear deep inside me. It was simple one piece black garment all us tributes were required to wear, hugging us tightly and was made of thick polyester. Over it was a thick leather jacket that looked like something you might wear in the snow. I didn't really understand why they gave this to us until I felt a cold chill hit my face and looked up at the arena. Looking up it reminded me of a winter wonderland, us tributes had been put in a snow covered arena with humongous pines covering the area behind us. In front of us lay knee deep snow and Christmas boxes, I'm assuming replaced the backpacks from previous games. In the center of all 22 of us stood our cornucopia, a small lamppost with a lone candle providing light to the ever darkening area.
Before I could examine any more I heard the sound of the timer hitting zero and immediately we were off. I felt a monster grip tackle me to the ground and I instantly knew it was district 3 male Conn. I felt his hands rapping around my neck and start to choke the life out of me. His strength was impressive and, I immediately started to feel the daze of a lack of oxygen overtaking me. I tried hard to break free from his death grip but, against my best effort there was no escaping from him.
The feeling of unconsciousness started overtaking me as Conn's grip faltered and he collapsed on top of me, with a loud scream. It took me a good 30 seconds but eventually, I regained my breath and pushed him off me to find he had received a hook to the back that went through his neck I'm assuming must of sliced the jugular.
I smiled, "t0Thank god some idiot decided to end this son of a bitch or I would of had a problem." I looked around for anyone that might of delivered the death blow but, there was no one close enough to have done it.
Rubbing my throat I scurried up once again to a standing position. "Man I didn't want to do that again," I mumbled to myself running toward a Christmas box laying a few feet from me. My feet graced the slushy snow under me as I dove for it and gripped my hands around it, "Success!" I mumbled. Opening the box quickly found me a big mace. I grinned gripping it tightly in my hand as I dropped the box and came to my feet. Taking a second to get used to the heavy object I swung it around and instantly felt the item meet flesh. I spun around to find the district 5 male fallen to the ground, holding his bleeding head. I didn't give him time to recover swinging it down hard upon him. I heard a loud scream and the cracking of his skull and knew he would be dead in minutes.
I decided not to stick around to watch him die, I started trying to run in he slushy snow toward the pine tree forest. It proved to be a very difficult task, the snow being knee deep. I kept tugging on though looking for any tributes that had ran away before me until I came face to face with some sort of dresser laying all on its own in a small clearing of the trees. Curiously I walked toward it. "Why is there a dresser in here?" I asked myself gripping the frozen handle, and turning it slowly.
As I opened the door I noticed it was full of leather coats like my own. But seeming like there was something behind it I walked in pushing my way through the coats. Once I passed them the temperature began rising and it turned into some sort of small empty area with a long book laying on the floor. Picking up the paper backed book I began looking through it's pages.
