Task Seven [SFs]: The Words Of Oz

The tension was mounting all throughout the Gamemaker's tower, and Paella felt it in every cell of her body. Even the newest of interns knew one of the Head Gamemakers was a dead man walking, only so much time left before the President decided they were inadequate. Or... woman, if it ended up being Paella who wouldn't see the sunrise after the end of the year's games. Her hand drumming on the table, Paella stared at the digital arena with bloodshot eyes, wondering how much longer she'd be able to.

She was starting to wonder which fate was worse. Did she really want to be a solo Gamemaker, have that pressure put upon her, knowing she could be replaced at any moment? If Paella's solo Games were a flop, that was the end of her, nobody else to take the blame. She would just be replaced with a new batch of students, just like she and Pluto had replaced the Gamemakers before.

Either way, she risked death. Either way, she meant nothing. Would it just be easier to give that future anxiety to Pluto, avoid giving herself constant stress and a miserable existence?

Which poison would Paella rather take?

Not as though she had much choice in the end. It was up to the President, no matter which way she hoped for. The Gamemaker shook the thoughts of her demise from her mind. She had to focus on a fantastic end to a fantastic games, no matter what stood in the way of her future. Paella had asked for this, after all, in becoming a Gamemaker. There was no way to avoid it.

So she had to make every moment count.

THE TASK:

The Giver escorts you from the Annex, and as your tribute exits through the door, they will find themselves in a house they will eventually recognize as their own; the house is still, however, your tribute the only human inside. Wandering into their own room, you'll recognize the familiar setting with- most likely- some sort of nostalgia. But as you glance outside the window, something very out of the ordinary will await you. A tornado spirals toward the house, spinning rapidly. With your tribute inside, the house will be swept up into the air.

We're not in Kansas anymore.

Just like Dorothy, your tribute will eventually peer out the window and see a variety of things flying by. These things should be significant to your tribute's life and song (see below). Perhaps you will see a fear, a loved one, something treasured... the possibilities are endless, and we want to see what emotional response you can trigger in your tribute.

THE SONGS:

Welcome to the song task! This is the entry where you will base your writing off of one of the songs below. The goal of a song task is to base the entry off of the mood of the song, along with a few lyrical references if you choose to include them. Try to capture both the lyrics and music in your entry.

**Note that because of ballot/first entry bonuses that were not handed out last task, Aspen Kinsley has received first song pick due to earning both bonuses. Esther Tehnos received second song pick due to earning one bonus. For not completing her ballot challenge, Katelyn 'Kate' Dodger must give up her song if another tribute would also like it. Other than these exceptions, it's first come, first serve- similar to Task 5.

Six songs have been included so that none of you are stuck with the last song and still have a choice.

Alone Together - Fall Out Boy ~ KATELYN 'KATE' DODGER

Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day ~ ESTHER TEHNOS

Open - Regina Spektor

Paint You Wings - All Time Low ~ ROSELLA VAN CARTER

Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) - Florence + The Machine ~ KANAI LATHAN

Runaway - AURORA ~ ASPEN KINSLEY
