Taken from Chapter Two
Ferran froze, his frantic expression giving away the fact he was surprised. "W-Who...?"
"Fer, I love you and all despite we met about fifteen minutes ago, but can you please be quiet?" Erythos whispered in the boy's ear.
New here, aren't you? I'll point myself out and hover the nearest I can get to you. I am a dragon, human, if that's what you're curious about.
One of the dragons- a sleek silver one with red blotches- struggled against its bonds, hissing as it creaked and groaned under the strain. As Ferran made eye-contact with it, the dragon quieted.
Rei was speaking, her arms crossed over her chest as she addressed the crowd. "...terribly sorry the Seri is rather late," she finished.
"We going to be cursed, Ranger," one of the dragons hissed, its dark violet eyes flashing angrily. By the somewhat shocked expression present on everyone's features, Ferran guessed he wasn't the only one who heard it. "We've delayed the wish of the gods and goddesses!"
Rei's expression was composed, as if she had prepared herself in advance for this. "I assure you, no harm will come to us. I have prayed to our higher beings, and they will most likely spare us," she uttered calmly, her voice rather soft.
The dragon merely growled, a deep sound in the back of its throat that sent Ferran's nerves haywire. It gashed its teeth together in an angry manner like a wild beast snarling at a shriveling, fearful child. "What if they don't forgive us?"
"I assure you that won't happen."
Ferran was- in short, terrified. The chains that held the dragons bound was straining, struggling to fall apart. The boy's blood was chilled, stopping in its tracks throughout his body as it awaited in cold fear for any signal that it might break away.
Erythos, beside the brunette, was too frozen, his muscles taunt as he listened for the dragon's reply.
"Suit yourself, Ranger," the dull green-scaled dragon said, jagged talons digging into the ground and leaving scars.
The redhead stepped off the stage, her cloak swishing behind her as she walked towards it. "Rakta, is it? That's your name, correct?"
"Indeed."
"I shall take all punishment that the gods might set upon us. I am the Head Ranger, and am willing to suffer for the beings hearing this very conversation."
'Perhaps...I have doubted Lady Rei."
So...what do you think? Good, bad? Criticism? The picture is what Ferran looks like.
