"... What?"

I sighed, running a hand through my hair as I looked away. "Did you hear me the other three times?"

Takaeko Kenshin stood in front of me, a dark, steely flicker in his golden eyes.

"I did. I just want to... Confirm it."

"I want to marry Ashita," I repeated. "I'm asking her hand in marriage- well, your permission to ask for her hand."

He studied me through narrowed eyes, wringing his wrists. As I scratched the back of my neck, he smiled- thinly.

"Of course."

"Really?"

"Yes, I have heard how happy you make my daughter," he cocked his head. "On the other hand, you break her heart and I'll shatter your spine."

The last sentence still had that smile paired with it, causing several chills to crawl down the said spine.

"Are we on the same page?"

"Yes, sir," I said after clearing my throat.

Kenshin looked over me with another alert gaze."You'll be a fine son-in-law. Do you happen to have the ring on you?"

I hesitated before answering. "Yes, although I am... A little afraid that she will not like it."

"You could give her the rustiest ring on Earth, and she would treat it like a diamond."

With a deep, uneven sigh, I reached into my back pocket, withdrawing the box and flipping it open.

The ring was two bands that merged together with several bands that looped around them, made out of gold.

Set in the middle was a square-cut diamond, but ametrine circles dotted the bands. In each opening, there was a chunk of polished celestite.

"... It suits her," Kenshin said at last.

I released a breath, finally able to breathe again. "... So, yes...?"

Kenshin nodded.

My heart blew up and a smile flickered across my lips. Ashita and I... could be together without restraint. No longer just girlfriend and boyfriend.

Kenshin slapped me hard on the back, a wide grin on his lips. "Get her now!"

I followed his gaze out the window, and my heart leapt into my throat at the sight of my girlfriend.

Ashita was kneeling in the grass, her short and choppy blue hair fluttering around her face.

Good grief, she's beautiful.

Another prod in the back, and I sent a scathing look over my shoulder at her father before swallowing and stepping out, careful to slid the box into my back pocket.

"Ashita!"

She turned towards me, mint-green eyes lighting up. "Jax-kun!"

I jogged on up to her, and Ashita immediately embraced me in a hug, pecking me on the cheek. "Hi~!"

"Nice to see you again too," I said, wrapping my arms around her waist. "... Oh wow."

"Hm?"

"Oh, just the scene..." I smiled. "You against the ocean.."

Turning her back to me, Ashita cocked her head, then nodded. "You flatter me!"

Moment of truth.

I lowered myself onto one knees, pulling the box out.

"Ashita..?"

"Mh-!"

Her eyes had widened and blinked, and all the emotion shattered all at once.

"Will you marry me?"

My girlfriend brought her hand to her mouth, looking on the verge of tears. "Yes," she whispered at last. "Yes, yes, yes!"
