Haha guess who loves angst

No. No. No. No. No.

Not Tsubasa.

Tsubasa would never hurt anyone. Tsubasa wouldn't hurt his eagle. And most of all, Tsubasa wouldn't hurt Yu or you.

Yet, here you were, lying battered and broken at the base of a huge chunk of the stadium. Your arm was broken, and the shattered pieces of your beyblade lay a distance away.

Draped across the top of the rock, Tsubasa's eagle was still, his wings drooping and steaming.

Then you heard it.

Ringing laughter.

Your ears stung at the sound, causing you to wince. Carefully craning your head to the side, you skimmed the area for any sign of other people.

Leaning against the wall, his eyes closed, was Yu. His shirt was in tatters, and his sleeves were ripped, exposing most of his arms and a bit of his lime-green underclothing.

And, with his back turned against you, stood Tsubasa Otori. Purple fire seemed to rage around him, enveloping his entire body in darkness.

"Tsu... Tsu...basa..." you pushed yourself to a sitting position with one hand, hissing under your breath as a spark of panic traveled through your limbs. It soon ignited into a bond-fire, and you cringed.

"Hmm?" He turned around.

His eyes.

What used to be a warm, honeyed, amber-gold was now blood-red, with tiny pupils. At your horrified expression, Tsubasa- was this even Tsubasa anymore?- threw back his head and laughed, taking slow, even steps towards you.

Shadows snaked around your feet, and you breath hitched as one traveled lazily over your leg.

"M-Monster...!"

"Now, now," the Eagle blader- at least what was left of him- smirked. "Tsubasa's memories and mine are still linked to each other, you know. What would he feel if he heard you call him that?"

For several seconds, you could see the red fade in his eyes. They flickered for a moment, changing back to those beautiful golden eyes, and anguish welled up in you at the pain lurking in them.

Tsubasa was strong. He was never like this. With a mask, he kept his emotions under control, but this... it was raw emotion leaking out of his prison.

Gritting his teeth, Tsubasa stumbled back. "Shut up, you insolent little brat!" he hissed under his breath. "I'm in control, fool!"

Gnashing his jaws together, Tsubasa staggered, reaching out and putting most of his weight on the jagged piece of rock. "You..." he growled, a noise that resounded from deep in his throat.

Fear shattered your veins as his eyes bore into yours.

"Ts-Tsubasa...?"

"[Name]... another human being worthless to me," he sneered. "I don't even get why Tsubasa spends his time with you."

The knuckles of your non-broken arm turned white as your hand balled into a fist.

"Tsubasa... please, listen to me," you pleaded. The steely, insane look in his eyes didn't waver, but his lips curved down in a frown before disappearing.

"Ha!" he laughed. "You think worthless talk will spare your life?"

The purple aura around him sparked, expanding to touch the sides of the broken stadium as he took a step towards you.

You lifted your arm to protect yourself, although your eyes didn't leave his face as red stared into [eye-color].

"[Name]..." Dark Tsubasa crooned, reaching past your arm barrier, taking hold of your chin as he knelt.

The touch of his cold fingers caused you to shiver. It was at a temperature no human should be at.

"Do you think you can win against me?" he hissed with laughter.

His burning gaze did nothing to stop you from backing down, and you stared back into the unnatural-colored irises.

Pulling away, the silver-haired teen- no, monster- drew himself back up to his full-height. "It seems my time is up," he grinned like Chesire the Cat, aiming a look at the four doctors starting to run down the half-destroyed stairs towards him.

It was like a faucet had turned off. The dark aura flickered and vanished, and Tsubasa's eyes rolled back before he collapsed on the floor.

Wisps of dark smoke rolled off of his lips, curling into the air before disappearing completely. Tsubasa's breathing was heavy and labored, eyes scrunched tiny as he writhed.

"D-Doctors!" You called. "Over here!"

Three of them rushed to the fallen Eagle blader. The last one turned to you, taking in the sight of your bent arm.

"Ah, did he do this to you?" He asked, jerking a thumb to Tsubasa.

"No," the answer was instant. "I... fell down the stairs and smacked into this hunk of rock."

... because Tsubasa would never do that. Never him.
