Sayaka Maizono thought she was dead.

She awoke screaming, thrashing before arms seized her and pinned her back down against the bed. Now, she was snuggled in the cotton-white blankets, doing her very best not to remember her last few moments before she woke up here.

"Miss, do you think you're able to walk?"

She raised her gaze from the deep folds of her warm cocoon, her fists curling in response as she debated her options, then sat up. "I think so..."

She stood, her legs trembling as she nearly tumbled into the teenager's arms. She looked up in surprise. "Naegi-kun?"

"Nice to see you up and about," the brown-haired boy said, his lips twisting up into a smile. Sayaka pushed herself away from him, testing out her limits before flashing him a grin of hers.

"I know," she responded, leaning against the wall. He s okay. Was it a dream?

Makoto Naegi scratched at his cheek, gaze flicking to the other eight people who rested in their beds. "When you went out of control...I was a bit worried," he admitted.

"Out of control?"

"Yeah. You had some kinda seizure when you 'woke' up. You started shouting 'Leon' at the top of your lungs, also with wildly kicking around. You nailed Hagakure-san in the gut."

Sayaka had to think for a moment before the name came to mind. "The foture-teller with the crazy hair, right?"

He nodded in response, watching her wobble down the hall, closely following behind. "You think you're gonna be okay?" he asked.

"I'll be fine, Naegi-kun," the blue-haired girl promised, sending him another smile as  she leaned on the wall for slight support.

As he watched her go, Makoto spun around to meet the gaze of a purple-eyed girl. "Oh, hi, Kirigiri-san."

Kyoko Kirigiri smiled thinly. "Another has woken up."

His eyes brightened considerably, giving her a thumbs-up before rushing down the hall.

OoO

Sakaya sat down, her nails digging in the cushion of the chair. Brushing her blue hair from her eyes, she glanced around the room.

"Hi," she ventured at the sight of a black-haired girl.

The unnamed person looked up from where she was cleaner her- "Is that a gun?" Sayaka exclaimed, and she nodded.

"It's a...hobby of mine, you could call it," the girl said, fondly stroking the sleek weapon. "I am the Ultimate Soldier, after all."

"An Ultimate?" the other girl wondered, thoughtfully tilting her head to the side. "I'm an Ultimate too. Sayaka Maizono, nice to meet you!"

"I do know who you are, you were the first killed...by whom, I do not know..I'm Mukuro Ikusaba."

Sayaka froze for a fraction of a minute, her eyes roaming Mukuro's face for any sight of recognition. "I haven't ever seen you before..you weren't in that school.."

The Ulimate Soldier smiled wryly. "At the time, I was known as Junko Enoshima, or my sister."

She opened her mouth to ask another question, but enraged yelling rose from one of the distant rooms. Alarmed, Sayaka shot upright, supporting herself by bracing her palm against the wall. "What's that?"

"Who," Mukuro corrected, hurrying after her as Sayaka ran down the hall.

OoO

"Someone grab him and pin his arms!" Hagakure yelled, dodging a swing limb before a fist whacked him squarely in the face.

"Leon!" Makoto hollered over the spitting curses the redhead shouted. "Control yourself!"

The Ultimate Baseball Star gave his command no heed, ripping away from Kyoko as she tried to firmly grip his wrist.

Sayaka froze, pain exploding from her abdomen at the sight of his face. It was like fire, sending the blue-haired girl crumbling to her knees and clutching her side.

"Maizono-san?" Mukuro asked, falling besides her while keeping a careful eye on Leon Kuwata.

Blood. Knife. Fight. 11037. Death.

"I'm fine," she whispered as she pulled herself to her feet, then approached Leon. The said redhead was twisting Aoi Asahisa's arm violently, only letting go when she yelped.

"Leon!" she yelled, her voice only wavering slightly. His eyes turned towards her, mental flames alit in them until she grabbed her wrist.

At her touch, Leon's frame slackened and relaxed before slumping into his bed, eyes rolling back.

Makoto rubbed at his cheek, wincing at where Leon's fist had hit him. "It's going in the order everyone died," he noted. "You died..then Mukuro-san, then him..."

Sayaka didn't let go of Leon's wrist, afraid that if she did so he would go into rage again.

_SEVERAL DAYS LATER_

"Why haven't you woken up yet?" Sayaka said softly, running her fingers along his ear piercings. "Chihiro-kun woke up..what about you?"

Leon hadn't shown any more signs of life after that accident. His flame-red hair, usually bright and vivid, seemed almost dull with death.

She released a sigh, giving his hand one last squeeze before standing up. "Naegi-kun...I think he's..."

Makoto nodded sullenly, his shoulders slumping down in defeat. "We could hope he could wake up," he murmured, but at the sad look she gave him, he glanced away. "I'll just..yeah. Goodnight, Kuwata-san."

Sayaka watched him leave before leaning against the doorway, her lips pursed as she admired Leon's features. She could see why he had a wave of fangirls after him- he was popular and had those looks most girls adored- wild and carefree.

"Maizono...?"

Shaking herself out of her gaze, she gasped lightly as Leon released a groan, slivers of stormy-grey peeking through his eyelids.

"Leon-kun, you-!"

"Hell, my head hurts.."

Sayaka's hand found his in an instant, and Leon's eyes fully opened in surprise. "Warmth feels weird.." he muttered, his fingers tightening around hers.

She couldn't help it- she laughed. Leon looked distorted at the noise, his other hand reflexively clutching a fistful of the sheet.

"Good evening," she told him, "here I thought you were..."

"Dead? Dammit, the only thing that could kill me is..." his gaze hardened as he muttered a curse underneath his breath. She was sure she heard the word baseball and execution, but Leon covered it with his foolish grin.

"You were staying here just for me, Maizono?"

"Sayaka, please."

Leon debated this for a moment, rubbing his thumb over her fingers. "Sure," he said, lifting his shoulders in what could be dubbed a careless movement. "So, uh, when'd you wake up?"

"Is the great Leon Kuwata lost for words?" she teased. "But I woke up this morning."

He turned a flushed red, scratching at the back of his neck. "Hey, don't smack me for this..."

Her curiosity alit, Sayaka tilted her head, puzzled. Leon pressed a kiss to her cheek, and Sayaka could barely here the exchanged words: Good morning to you, then.

I know it's sucky I'm tired as hell and wanted to get this done and endings rushed
