Despite being shocked out of my wits, I kept my cool. What was she doing here?
"Dimitri, dear, you seem surprised to see me," she said, her sweet expression turning sour. "And here I thought you missed me." She walked past me and towards Dimitri.
"Amanda, what do you want?" Dimitri asked her.
"Do I have to want something to visit my husband?" She said in an annoying tone. "Did you really think that I wouldn't find you? I'm going to make you pay for the hours I spent searching for you." She paused and looked around the room. "And who the heck lives here? It looks like one of those huts people used to use before houses were invented."
I took a deep breath to soothe my anger. This was Dimitri's fight and I was not going to get involved.
"Just tell me what you want and be on your way," Dimitri said to her.
"I'm going to need you to sign some papers for me," she took a file from her handbag and handed it to Dimitri.
"What's that?" he asked without taking them.
"Just some documents saying that I should have total ownership over Dragonfly Enterprise yada yada yada. Nothing really," she said casually.
Dimitri smiled. "You're not getting ownership over anything I own, ok,?" he said. "What you will be doing is leaving."
"I'm not going anywhere until these papers are signed," she said. "You can either sign it now quick and easy or you will sign it by court order. Either way, you'll sign it."
Dimitri laughed. "We'll see about that," he said. "Now are you ready to tell me what you want 'cause I know you didn't come all this way for a signature."
"Dimitri," she said, getting closer and placing a hand on his chest. "I miss you. I want you back. Come home with me."
He laughed and stepped back, leaving her hand hanging. "Not in this life," he said. "Now why don't you get out of Vivica's house?"
She turned and looked at me for the first time since she entered. "Oh, it's your house," she said. "That makes better sense."
She turned back to Dimitri. "Who is she?" She asked him.
"Well," I said. "I-"
"Was I talking to you, bitch?" She snapped before I could finish.
Oh no she didn't!
"I'll show you what a bitch is if you're not out of my house in the next ten seconds," I snapped back.
She laughed. "Bitch, please! I'll leave when I want to leave," she said. "Now shut up and let me speak." She returned her attention to Dimitri.
My temper was on edge.
"Who the heck do you think you are?" I asked. "I said get the hell out of my house before I have to drag you out myself."
She turned to me, wearing an annoyed expression. "Why don't you get the hell out?" She said. "Can't you see I'm speaking?"
Before I could answer Dimitri stepped in front of me. "Amanda, you need to leave," he said.
She gasped. "You're taking her side over mine?" She said.
"Amanda!"
"Ok. Fine. I'll leave," she said. "But think about what I said, ok? You know you'll never find anyone like me."
"That's the point," Dimitri said as he walked over to the door and held it open.
Amanda rolled her eyes as she walked to the door. She paused in the doorway then turned to face me. "See you soon," she said with a smile, then disappeared out the door.
Dimitri gave me an apologetic look. "Sorry about that," he said. "I knew she was crazy but I did not see that coming!"
I sat on the sofa. "So what are you going to do about her?" I asked him.
"I don't know," he sighed. "I'll let my lawyer deal with her."
I nodded and sat on the sofa. He sat beside me.
"I'm sorry about not telling you about her before," he said. "I was so caught up in the moment that I forgot all about her."
"It's ok," I answered.
"And I shouldn't have kissed you. I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me. Like I said, I was caught up in the moment."
What?! Was he saying he regrets kissing me? I was hit with a pang of emotion and my heart suddenly felt heavier. What the heck was wrong with me?
"Are you ok," I heard Dimitri ask.
"Yea," I managed to say, though it was hardly above a whisper.
"Are you sure?"
I smiled and nodded.
"I have to go call my lawyer so I guess I'll see you tomorrow," he said, getting up.
I nodded again and he left.
I let out a heavy sigh as I heard the door close.
What do I care if he regrets kissing me? I told myself. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I. Don't. Care.
Then why did I feel this way? What was wrong with me?
I tried to focus my attention on the TV. It took me about two minutes to realize that it wasn't on. I turned it on and switched through the channels. After about 3 minutes of doing this I turned it off and and went to the bathroom.
After a quick shower I went to bed and soon fell asleep.
I was awoken some time later by a rap on my door. I looked at my nightstand clock and saw that it was 1:32 am.
Shocked, I got out of bed and headed for the door, wondering who could be knocking at this late hour.
"Who is it?" I asked before opening the door.
There was no response.
"Who is it?" I repeated.
Still no answer.
I started to panic. I slowly opened the door.
Amanda was standing on the other side, wearing a serious expression.
"Amanda?" I said, both shocked and angry. "What the hell are you doing back here?"
"So are you and Dimitri together?" She asked blankly.
I was shocked at her question. "What?" I said. "No."
"Listen up, bitch. Dimitri is mine and mine only so watch it, ok? 'Cause if I ever see you getting too chummy with him..." she drew her index finger across her neck, then walked away.
Crazy bitch!
