I slowly opened my eyes. It took a few seconds for them to get accustomed to the darkness in the room and even when they did, I could barely see anything.I tried to move my arms but couldn't, they were tied together behind my back. My legs were stretched out infront of me and as I tried to move them I realized that they were tied also. My butt ached. I tried to shift my position on the hard chair on which I sat, but the effort only caused the ropes, or whatever they were, to dig deeper into my stomach. My body was restrained of all movement.
Where was I?
The last thing I remembered was being pulled away from my room what felt like hours ago.
I tried to think. Why couldn't I remember anything? Had I been drugged?
I jumped in shock as I heard footsteps approaching what I thought was a door. I stared at it through the darkness in anticipation of what was about to happen.
The footsteps got nearer. My heart hammered against my ribs as I heard the jingling of the keys. The doorknob was then turned and the door was pushed open with a loud screech.
The footsteps continued as the person entered the room. I strained my eyes to see who it was but the darkness wouldn't allow it. All I could see was a moving shadow.
The shadow stopped. For a split second, my heart stopped also.
A part of it moved. I heard the flicking of a switch, then the room was flooded with light.
I squeezed my eyes shut as the blinding light entered my pupils, then opened them slowly until they became accustomed to the light.
I looked up at the spot where the shadow had stopped, then gasped as I recognized the figure standing there.
"Kevin?"
How did he get out of jail? But then again, the police that had taken him may even work for him.
He gave me a deadly stare. His dark eyes were cold as ice and showed nothing but hatred. Cold hatred.
"I think you know why you're here?" He said. His voice was rough and radiated a powerful chill that caused the temperature in the room to drop.
"No." My throat was dry and it came out as a hoarse whisper.
I swallowed then cleared my throat. "Where am I?" I asked.
I looked around the room. The only furniture there was the chair I was sitting on. The walls were a light shade of grey that blended perfectly with the concrete floor.
My eyes shifted back to Kevin as he started to walk towards me. I fumbled with the ropes around my wrists and struggled to move as he got closer.
"You're just tightening the ropes," he said, stopping a metre or so away from me.
I stopped, as I realized he was right. The ropes were digging into my skin now, almost preventing the flowage of blood to my hands and feet.
"What do you want from me?" I yelled. "I told you, I don't have the chip. I already gave it to the police."
He smirked. "Who said anything about the chip?" He said. "I've got that under control."
"Then why the hell am I here?"
"You should know," he said.
"I don't! If I'm being kidnapped I at least need to know why."
He turned to leave.
"Kevin!"
He continued to walk towards the door.
"Kevin! Untie me!"
He kept on walking.
"Kevin! Wait! Kevin! Where are you going? Untie me! Kevin, please! Kev-"
I was hushed by the vibrations of the slammed door as it resounded through the empty room.
I let out a heavy sigh of desperation.
The door was opened again and Kevin stepped in. I didn't bother to say anything, just watched as he walked over to the switch and turned off the light. The darkness enveloped me once more and Kevin was once again a shadow, moving towards the door. He went out of the room then closed and locked the door behind him.
I stared through the darkness at nothing, wondering what Dimitri was doing and if he knew I had been kidnapped.
I had no doubt that he did. I could picture Flo running to his house after realizing I was missing, then him going crazy and probably sending a search party after me, or hiring a PI or something. I felt a little better knowing someone was probably looking for me.
My stomach growled, notifying me of how hungry I was. I hadn't eaten all day. I tried to swallow but there was no moisture in my mouth.
What time was it?
I pulled at the ropes with my fingers, then gave up with a growl of annoyance as I realized it was no use.
The discomfort was unbearable. I couldn't take it.
I rocked fiercely to my right and the chair rocked with me, standing for a while on the two right feet before falling back on all four. I tried again. This time it stayed for about 5 seconds on two feet before falling back again. I tried again, this time with all the strength that was left in my body. The chair tilted, then fell to the ground. I let out a silent scream as the pain shot through my arm.
What did I think would happen? That the chair would fall apart like in the movies?
If I'd had the strength to, I would've laughed at my stupidity.
This is definitely one of the things to laugh at when I'm rescued.
My eyes shot towards the door as I heard it being opened again. It was pushed open with the same screeching sound as before.
A shadow walked in. No, two shadows. I tried hard to make out who they were. I couldn't. I waited for the lights to be turned on.
There was that click as the switch was flicked, then the room was once again brightly lit.
I gasped in a dozen lungfulls of air as I saw who was there.
Oh hell no!
Amanda was standing next to Kevin, smiling down at me.
"This is what you get for messing with my man, bitch!" She said.
I started to breathe heavily and shake my leg as the anger inside me reached its boiling point, as did my blood, and every other liquid in my body. I struggled against the ropes.
Somebody needs to untie me!
I let out a bitter laugh.
"You better kill me while you can, bitch," I said. "'Cause if you don't, you'll wish you did."
She smiled, then turned to Kevin. "See what I was talking about, babe?"
Babe?
She kissed his cheek, then whispered something in his ear.
He smiled.
She turned to me.
"Get rid of her," she said, before turning around and walking towards the door.
