"So when's the funeral?" I asked over the phone.
It has been four days since my grandma's death and I was sitting on the sofa in Dimitri's living room talking on the phone with my mother.
"We haven't decided yet," she answered me.
"How is everyone?"
"For the millionth time, Vivica, we're fine. Stop worrying."
I sighed. "I'll be coming to visit you again as soon as I can." I had gone to visit them the day after I left the hospital.
"Okay, hun," She said, then hung up.
I sighed. My grandma was very dear to me, but why was my body reacting like this over her death? She had been over eighty and very sick.
I rose and walked to the kitchen, then reached into the cabinet for some antidepressants. The pass few days had been very depressing.
There was a knock on the door just as I finished taking the pills.
"Who is it?"
"It's me, Flo."
I went to the door and let her in.
"Are you okay?" was the first thing she asked me, with genuine concern.
"For the millionth time, Flo, I'm fine," I sighed.
I lead her over to the sofa in the living room and we both sat down.
"So where's Dimitri?" She asked me.
"He had to leave. Something about a business meeting." I had to practically force him to leave, telling him over and over that I was fine. Why was everyone so concerned?
I'm fine.
"So how have you been doing?"
Ugh.
I sighed. "Like I told you yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that, I'm doing fine. I'm okay. We knew she had to die someday. She was very sick."
"Well since you're so fine, I'm going downtown to look for a birthday suit. Are you coming?" She asked hopefully.
I frowned. I didn't realize her birthday was so close, I really didn't feel up to going shopping.
"Okay. I'll go take a shower and get ready."
I got up and went upstairs. I took a quick shower, then dressed in a casual dress and 4" heels. After a quick glance in the mirror, I returned downstairs.
When she saw me approaching, Flo got up and started walking towards the door. I grabbed a key from the table and followed her out.

"I like the blue one but the red one is more you," I said to Flo. We were in a clothes store on St. James Street trying to decide between a blue all-in-one suit and a red skin tight dress."Okay, I'll go try it then." She gave me the blue suit and disappeared into the changing room.
I looked at my watch. It was 5:15pm. We had been walking for over five hours and my feet were killing me. I just wanted to go home.
Flo emerged from the changing room wearing the red dress. I studied her for a while then motioned for her to turn around. When she did, I looked her over again.
Perfect.
"Yeah, that's the one," I told her. "Now hurry, I'm starving."
She disappeared into the changing room again and returned shortly after wearing her regular clothes, with the dress over her arm.
