I started blankly at Dimitri, my eyes wide with shock.

Kevin's expression changed into confusion as he noticed I was staring behind him. He turned around slowly.

Dimitri didn't move.

I held my breath.

Kevin turned the final degree. His eyes locked with Dimitri's. He didn't move. Just stood there as if he was expecting him. He glanced down at the gun, then smiled.

"What took you so long?" He said. "I was beginning to get impatient."

Dimitri's face, lined with anger and fury, relaxed a bit.

"I'm not here for a fight, okay?" He said calmly. "Just let me have Vivica and nobody gets hurt."

Kevin laughed. "If you want her, take her." He stepped back until he was almost midway between Dimitri and I. "But you'll have go go through me first." He pulled the knife and held it in front of him.

Dimitri raised the gun, his hands relaxed and steady. I jumped as he pulled back the hammer.

"Don't think that I'm afraid to use it," he said calmly.

Kevin's calm expression changed to anger. I gasped as, in a lot less than a heartbeat, Kevin's knife went flying. It moved steatily and swiftly through the air, directly towards Dimitri's heart!

My feet didn't allow me to move. My lips stifled the scream that threatened to escape. I just stood there, too shocked and frightened to do anything.

The knife continued on its deadly journey to Dimitri's heart.

Dimitri didn't flinch. If I didn't know better I'd think he didn't know the knife was coming.

My heart ascended to my mouth. The knife was less than 2 inches away from him. Tears treatened my eyes.

Dimitri stepped calmly to the side. The knife ended up in the wall behind him, only the handle visible.

I closed my eyes and let out a heavy sigh of relief.

I tore my eyes open at the swishing sound that followed. I was shocked to see about half dozen knives, similar to the one before, moving sporadically through the air towards Dimitri.

Dimitri moved swiftly, but calmly, stepping to the left or right to narrowly escape each knife. I watched him, wide eyed, as all the knives ended up in the wall behind him.

He looks like freaking Denzel Washington!

I glanced at Kevin. He looked almost as shocked as I did.

"Is that all you've got?" I heard Dimitri ask.

Kevin didn't answer. Instead, he locked his cold eyes, filled with malice, with Dimitri's.

Dimitri moved slowly towards me, his hands still aiming the gun, his eyes still fixed on Kevin's.

He let go of the gun with one hand and used it to grasp my wrist, pulling me towards the door. I moved willingly beside him, also keeping my eyes on Kevin.

"Are you ok?" Dimitri asked in a low voice.

I looked at his face, drenched with concern, and nodded. For a brief second his eyes locked with mine.

A second was all Kevin needed. I didn't even know he'd moved until I felt Dimitri's hand pull away from mine and saw him being thrown against the wall.

Kevin pinned him there, kneeing him repeatedly in his stomach until the gun fell from his hands. He used his foot to kick it across the floor until it was stopped by the adjoining wall.

Adrenaline surged through my body. I ran across the room and towards the abandoned gun.

Kevin extended his foot into my path. I was already on my way to the floor when I noticed. A small sceam of pain escaped my lips and I flinched at the pain that inhabited my body as my forehead, then the rest of my body come in contact with the concrete floor.

I laid there for what felt like forever, unable to move.

The bustling continued beside me. I turned onto my left side, trying hard to ignore the pain I felt.

It was Kevin that was pinned to the wall this time and Dimitri was beating him vigorously in the face with his fist.

Kevin somehow managed to give Dimitri a solid blow in his stomach with the sole of his right foot, sending him stumbling backwards. I gasped as he lost his footing and fell to the ground a meter or so away from me.

Kevin walked over to him, his anger evident on his face. He angrily pounded his right foot against his ribs.

I mentally felt each and every blow Dimitri recieved. I stared helplessly across the room at the gun laying on the floor.

I willed myself to get up. I eventually got to my hands and knees, then to my feet.

Blood trickled down my face from my forehead. My legs hurt.

I moved slowly towards the gun, each step painful and laboured.

The crashing sound of Kevin's foot to Dimitri's ribs faded to the background as my mind was concentrated on getting the gun.

After what felt like forever, I was finally within arm length of the gun. I picked it up with both hands, spun around, then aimed it at Kevin.

My hands shook slightly.

Kevin was so concentrated on kicking Dimitri that he didn't know what was happening.

I slowly squeezed the trigger.

The only notification that the gun had gone off was the loud, piercing sound that rang through the air, causing me to jump and stilling all movement.

The bullet landed with a soft thud in Kevin's upper arm, freeing a river of dark red fluid that instantly soaked his shirt.

He grabbed his arm with his other hand.

Dimitri jumped at his chance and quickly got to his feet. He shoved Kevin into the wall and hammered his fist against his temple.

Kevin's body relaxed. Dimitri let go of him and he fell to the floor, unconscious.

I covered the distance between Dimitri and I then handed him the gun.

He took it and placed it in the waist of his jeans.

He took hold of my wrist and pulled me towards the door.

I heard movement behind me. I saw Dimitri pull the gun from his waist at lightning speed then felt large hands roughly grab my chin and jerk it backward. A cold, sharp blade found my neck.

I was too afraid to breathe.

Nobody dared to move.
