The driver lowered her hand and the gun was out of sight again. She pressed one of the control button and there was a soft clicking sound as the doors were automatically locked. The car picked up speed, and so did my heart.
"Where are you taking us?" I asked.
The driver gave me a cold stare in the rearview mirror. Neither of them answered.
Dimitri nudged me in the side. I looked at him. He was mouthing something.
I had to ask him to repeat multiple times to understand what he was saying.
He was saying that I should reach for the gun on the driver's lap while he...strangled her?
"We'll crash!" I mounted, shocked.
"We'll be OK. Just do it."
I looked up and driver's eyes caught mine in the rearview mirror. I looked away and tried to act normal as if nothing was happening.
I looked at Dimitri again.
"After two. One...two."
We both sprang into action. I jumped into the space between the two front seats. Dimitri's hands found the driver's neck. She reached for her gun but was a nanosecond too late as I had already snatched it from her lap.
She let go of the steering wheel and grabbed Dimitri's hands.
The gun fell from my hands and onto the ground. The lady in the passenger seat reached for it, then grabbed it before I could. I jumped over to the front seat and landed hard on her hand before it could leave the ground with the gun. She let out a scream. I moved my feet and retrieved the gun as she pulled away her hand. I slammed the side of the gun into her temple, knocking her out.
The car spun out of control. I looked at the driver. She was unconscious. I felt myself being pulled away. It was Dimitri. He pulled me onto the back seat where he was.
"We have to jump!" He reached infront of the driver's seat and pressed a button.
"What?!" I'd heard what he'd said but couldn't believe it.
"We have to jump!" He opened the door. My heart caught in my throat as I saw the road passing by swiftly beneath us.
"Couldn't we–"
I was about to suggest that I drive while he deals with the other woman but stopped as I saw what was ahead of us.
We were moving speedily towards a large tree at the side of the road!
"Now!" Dimitri shouted.
He wrapped his arm around my waist and before I knew what was happening, I was sailing through the air, then I was falling, and falling, then...
Bam!
We landed with a loud thud onto the ground.
A bolt of pain shot through my body. I shifted, then realized I had landed on top of Dimitri.
I rolled off of him and onto the ground.
A loud crash sounded through the air, followed by an explosion and the shattering of glass. I got into a sitting position and looked to where the sound was coming from.
The once white car was now almost black and the windows and windshields were broken.
Dimitri moved beside me.
"Are you OK?" I asked him.
"Yea." He felt the bones in his arms, legs, and neck. "Nothing's broken. You?"
I nodded.
"Can you stand?" He asked, getting to his feet then reaching down to help me up.
"I think so." I took his hands and helped me to my feet.
He started walking towards the crash and I followed.
When we were about halfway there, I spotted something on the opposite side of the road. As I got closer, I realized it was a body.
Amanda's body.
I had forgotten all about her. I didn't even remember that she was in the car.
I hurried over to where she was, Dimitri behind me.
She seemed unconscious. She was laying on top of her right hand. Her left hand, along with her legs, were positioned at impossible angles.
I stooped, felt her wrist, then rose again.
"She's alive," I said to Dimitri.
He took out his phone, which, surprisingly wasn't broken, dialled a number, then brought it to his ears.
He briefly told the operator about the situation and where we were.
When he hung up, we continued towards the car.
When we approached it, I stopped at the driver's window while Dimitri took the other.
The driver's head was smashed into the steering wheel. I felt her neck for a pulse. There was none.
"She's dead," Dimitri said, coming around the front of the car.
"So is she," I answered. "Now let's go before the police gets here."
"Why?"
"I know better than to trust the police now. I'm not in the mood to fall into another trap. I've had enough."
He shrugged. "Ok. My car is still at the house. Let's go get it."
We started walking down the road, the heat enveloping us and the sun roasting my skin.
The walk was longer than I thought.
After what felt like hours later, the large house finally appeared in the distance.
We approached it. Dimitri's car was parked just outside what looked like a garage.
He unlocked the passenger door and held it open for me to enter. When I did, he entered on the other side, closed the door, then started the car. Within seconds we out of the yard and driving down the road.
"Oh my God, girl! Are you OK? What happened?"
I jumped so hard it's a wonder I didn't go through the window. Even Dimitri looked a bit startled.
I swung around and saw Flo sitting in the backseat, stretching and looking like she had just woken up.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
"Flo!" I turned around in my seat and gave her a long hug.
"You had me worried sick," she said when I let go. "What happened to you? Did they hurt you?"
"I'll tell you all about it when I get home," I told her. "Right now, I need to relax and breathe."
I turned to Dimitri.
"And you've got a whole lot of explaining to do."

I'm thinking of changing the title and cover of the book since 'Seduction' no longer matches the content. Any suggestions?...
