I didn't sleep too well that night. I woke up the next morning feeling tired and lazy. I was about to get out of bed when there was a knock on the door."Come in," I said in a lazy, almost inaudible voice.
The door was opened and Dimitri walked in carrying a tray.
He walked over to the bed and took a seat beside me.
"Good morning," he said cheerfully with a smile.
"Morning," I mumbled.
"I made you breakfast," he said handing me the tray.
I took the tray. It had a cup of coffee, a plate with pancakes and scrambled eggs, and a glass of OJ.
"You didn't make this,' I told him.
"Yes, I did."
I gave him a look.
"Ok, I ordered it," he said.
I laughed. "Thanks," I said, as I started eating.
He got up. "I'm going to go get ready," he said and I nodded. He left the room.
I finished eating and went to the bathroom to take a shower. When I was done, I put on a casual purple dress and sandals, grabbed my phone, then went to the living room to see if Dimitri was ready.
He was. He was wearing jeans, a muscle shirt, and Air Max sneakers.
"You ready," he asked me.
I nodded.
He lead the way outside the house and to the garage. The door was locked and he used a remote control attached to his keys to open it.
The Lamborghini was inside, along with a light lavender Mercedes and something under a blue cloth.
I walked towards the Lamborghini but stopped as I saw Dimitri walk over to the one with the cloth.
He removed the cloth and revealed a sparkling gold motorcycle.
Was he for real?
I stared at it, then at him, then at it.
"You're kidding," I said. "There's no way I'm getting on that."
"Why not? It will be fun."
"But I'm not even dressed for a bike," I said pleadingly.
"Relax," he said. "You'll be fine."
He got on the bike and it roared as he used his key to start it. He then dropped the keys in his pocket and looked at me expectantly.
"Trust me, it will be ok," he said when I still didn't move.
I sighed.
"Fine," I said, then walked over to the bike and got on the back.
I wrapped my arms around him as he rode out of the garage and down the driveway.
"Where's the bank at?" He asked me when we were on the road.
"I'll direct you," I answered.
He sped down the road and listened as I told him when to turn where and when not to.
I was half disappointed when he pulled up infront of Scotiabank. I already missed the feel of the wind blowing through my hair.
We went inside the bank together and walked past a long line of people and up to the front desk.
After going through all the necessities, we were led by a plump-looking lady down a corridor then to a large metal door. She used a long key to open it and lead us inside the room.
The walls were lined with small deposit boxes. The lady handed me a key and pointed at one of the walls then turned around and left the room.
I walked over to the box with the number that matched the number on the key and opened it, then pulled it out.
Inside was a small black bag that contained the chip. I opened the bag and looked inside. The chip was still there. I replaced the box, locked it, and handed the chip to Dimitri, who placed it in his pocket.
We left the room and I handed the key to the lady who had given it to us, then we left the bank.
I directed Dimitri as we rode towards the police station. When we got there we went in and walked up to the front desk. There was a balding, grey-haired man sitting behind the desk.
"How may I help you?" He said in a friendly voice as we approached him.
"We have some information that we would like to hand over," I told him.
"You'll have to wait a while until the boss get back," he said with a friendly smile. "You can sit over there." He pointed to a wooden bench infront of the opposite wall.
"Ok," I said, and Dimitri and I walked over to the bench and sat.
I felt like 119 just put me on hold. We waited for what felt like hours.
"We should go get something to eat," Dimitri suggested. "Maybe he'll be here when we get back."
I shook my head. "I'll wait," I said. I really just wanted to get this over with.
We sat there in silence for another long time. Finally, a tall, athletic man dressed in a formal suit walked through the door. He looked at us then walked up to the man at the desk. They exchanged words I couldn't hear then the man came over to us.
"You said you have important information to share?" His voice was rough and showed authority.
I nodded."Follow me," he said and began walking. We got up and followed him down a small hallway and into a small room. The only furniture in the room was a long table with a few chairs around it.
The man walked over to the table and took a seat and we did the same.
"So," he began, "what have you got for me."
Dimitri removed the bag from his pocket and removed the chip.
"This chip," he said, holding it up so the man could see it, "contains enough evidence to put Kevin Campbell and all his gang members in jail for a long time, possibly forever."The man's hard expression change suddenly at the mention of Kevin's name.
"Kevin Campbell?" He asked.
"Yea," I said.
"Kevin Campbell from Kingston? The gang leader and dealer?"
I eyed him suspiciously. "Yea," I said.
"Didn't you hear," the man asked with an unbelieving look on his face.
I started to panic.
"Hear what?" I asked.
He sighed. "That Kevin Campbell and some of his followers were killed by members of the elipicus gang last October."
"What?" Dimitri and I said in unison.
