Smile for me(Ashikubi X Reader)

"I told myself i would be happy today, so i smiled, yet he figured it out"

As you scribbled in your dairy, drops of tears dripped onto it "how can I smile again, when someone has already figured it out?" You mumbled softly as you closed your dairy and let it fall onto the floor.

Flipping back up, your back laid against the bed as you stared into the cieling and your tears never stopped till you fell asleep.

You woke up to the sound of your alarm ringing,honestly,you dodn't want to wake up, waking up meant living a repeatition of yesterday,yet waking up was the only choice you had. Living aimlessly through time while everyday was the same as yesterday,you smiling again,as usual no one saw the tearstained face which bore a smile.

Walking through the coridoors of school towards your locker, smiling at some people as they smiled back, you finally made it to your locker. Opening to take out stuff for the day's classes,you sighed and closed the locker.

Going to class, going for lunch, chatting with some friends, it's all the same,each day, with your smile never breaking, no one knew of the cries in the night. The day was almost over after what felt like eternity. It was time to return to that place you used to call home,now just an empty shell of itself.

Just as you were emptying things into your locker, someone tapped your shoulder, turning around,you were met with a hug...

"Your real smile's much cuter" as he pulled you close, your face buried into his chest, his raspy voice slightly muffled, 'how...'you thought, you wanted to push away yet, your tears could not stop falling.

The empty hallway echoed with a soft,muffled cry,with only two souls, an angel who had suffered so much but still had to smile and a saviour which shielded her from human eyes. "I'm sorry (Y/n) chan, but I could not bear to see your sad smile again", lightly petting your head,his face buried into your hair.

"H-how..." your soft,exhausted voice rang out,as the sobs slowed to a stop. He pulled away so you could see him clearly, he wiped away your tears and held your hands"Let's go now... it's almost closing time..."

As the both of you left the empty building, he led you to that playground and went towards the swings "Ne....(Y/n) chan... remeber what I told you when we met here, for the first time?"
You stayed silent and looked down, not wanting to look at him. Then he started singing
" Shoujo no koe ga jibun no na wo yonderu
Yume wo miteita sameru koto nai yume wo..."

You felt the urge to cry again as the memories you locked up began unlocking

Flashback

That starry night, your parents had a fight so you ran out of the house and into the exact playground. You sat on the swings and let your tears flow freely, not having the strength to hold it back anymore, that's when you heard it,

"Waratte waratte hoho ga itaku naru made
Ano hi miteta yume wo uraginai de
Kimi ga kimi ga soba ni ite kuretara
Damatte ima no jibun wo shikatte hoshii"

Then that same voice sat at the swing next to you. He was your first friend since you moved to this town, but yet, you had to move again. Not even getting a chance to say bye.

Now, you were back, at the same park, under the same starry skies, your tears could no longer be held back as you silently sobbed again. This time, he held your face to look st him, "sa... waratte" you could faintly see it under the dim light, but he was smiling, yet there were tears down his face.

"I-it was you....this whole time...." you said softly while tears were still streaming down your face "a-after so long....." he hugfed you once more,burrying your face into his chest "(Y/n) chan... i was s-so sad when you left without words....but now...let me stay like this for a while...."

More tears escaped upon hearing that "A-ashikubi... It's me who s-sorry...." you choked through tears. He pulled away and leaned down, capturing your soft lips with his.

Pulling away, he looked into your teary eyes "after all these years.... I... Love you...(Y/n).." "Ashikubi...." you managed to smile through the tears "I love you too"
