prompt: Christmas Eve party
I felt his lips before anything else. It wasn't something I had planned, oh definitely not. A boy like me with a boy like him? Have you lost your mind? It was a small get together on Christmas Eve, my best friend Tyler dragging me there.
"You're to antisocial Con," he had said. "Come have some fun." So being the people pleaser I was I went. We walked up to the house bundled in winter coats and I was more than confused when Tyler didn't go to the front door but the garage. He knocked, it opened with a creek and as smoke poured out i instantly regretted my decision to come.
Around 10 people where piled inside on the floor, in lawn chairs and two people on a couch. Cigarettes and Joints where being passed around, bottles of various liquors littering the floor. My eyes had wondered to the couch where a girl sat on one end, a boys head in her lap.
"That's Grace and Troye." Tyler said as he made his way to them, with me in tow. Who I presumed to be Troye blew smoke rings into the air, his eyes hazy and a lazy smile on his desirable lips. Grace smiled at me. "Guys this is Connor."
"Hello handsome." She said and Tyler chuckled.
"Sorry Hun, he's gay." I scratched my neck awkwardly.
"oh, well then helloooo handsome." Troye spoke with a smirk and I smiled back shyly. I never had a problem with hot guys flirting.
"Damnit! Why do you always get the hot ones?" Grace whined and Troye laughed.
"Because I'm like, everyone's type." Tyler nodded in agreement and Grace shoved Troyes head off her lap and stood. I noticed her skirt was as short as her patience for Troye.
"Oh?" I said and he nodded childishly.
"Well, that and I've heard I'm an amazing kisser." My eyes wondered to his lips and i could hear Tyler clear his throat, uncomfortable. "But then again, none of those boys where known to be honest. Are you an honest man Connor?" My eyes grew wide as I realize what he's proposing.
"Y-yes?"
"Would you like to test my abilities?" Grace whined louder.
"Noooo! No fair!" Tyler reached for Graces hand.
"We should go. I think they can get acquainted themselves yes?" We don't have time to answer before they're with another groups of people and Troyes patted the spot next to him. I sat, taking in his entire appearance for the first time.
He was wearing a California crop top and a pair of track shorts, his hair messy, his skin pale.
"like what you see?" I shrugged.
"I was just wondering how you aren't freezing." Troye chuckled.
"I'm high on marijuana and love Con, I'm practically on fire." I remember thinking he was crazy. Not because he was doing drugs the night before Christmas but because he was high on love. I wanted to be high on love.
"High on love?" He nodded, running a hand through his hair.
"Yeah man. Everyone's so happy right now, so in love. You see Hannah over there?" He points to a girl with blonde hair, one currently falling over another girl with red lipstick. "That's her girlfriend Ingrid and they're so happy. Like fuck yeah, get it baby." I chuckled at his enthusiasm.
"Wouldn't it be second hand love then?" I asked. "Because it's not really you who's in love, your just feeling the vibes they're giving off? The desire to be in their place?"
"I suppose so." This saddened him and I instantly regretted it. And then I didn't. "Want be second hand high off love with me?" He asked suddenly and I turned to face him.
"What do you mean?" I knew what he meant.
"Kiss me."
"I barely know you though." His hand found my face.
"Just for tonight. You'll probably never even see me again." I shook my head.
"That's really not helping your case at all."
"Come on Con, live a little. Don't you wanna feel so good it burns?"
"Umm, no? That sounds horrible." He sighed.
"You don't want to feel like your on top of the world? I can help you feel that. Just kiss me, just this once." I stared at him. Would it really be that bad? He was right, I'd never see him again. The only thing that would suck would be his breathe after all the shit he'd consumed and I wasn't really in a place to be picky. When would I of got this chance again?
"I don't want to burn." I had said and he looked down at his lap. "And plus, those boys you speak of sound really unreliable. You could be shit at it." His face brightened as he scotched closer.
"Wanna find out?"
"I don't see why not, for science anyway. The people deserve to know the truth." He laughed, pulling my face so close to his that I could feel his lips move as he spoke.
"Yeah, science, sure." Then his warm lips where on mine and I understood what he was saying.
Slowly but surely his lips transported me. I was no longer in a smokey garage with a bunch of strangers but walking amongst clouds and sliding down rainbows like the homosexual I was. When he finally pulled away he rested his forehead against mine.
"So, what's your conclusion?" I licked my lips.
"I have nothing but an Hypothesis Tro, I think we need to do it again." He smirked at this.
"Yes sir."
He lied to me that night. He told me he'd never see me again, that it would only be once. And now he's living in my apartment and paying half the bills. But then again I haven't been completely honest either. Despite his constant questioning, he still believes I have nothing but a Hypothesis, when really I've had my conclusion since that first kiss. He's indeed an excellent kisser.
But giving him an answer is an invitation to leave, and I'm still high off second hand love.
